Here's a screengrab from the overdrive review, and it shows a Manual adjuster for IRVM night mode. Why Mahindra, why? How many bucks were saved by giving a manually adjustable IRVM instead of an auto-dimming one? Seriously irritating.

I believe it is a seriously good effort by Mahindra to move up the luxury SUV segment. The car seems to have all the right things to compete. Although early days, most of the reviews have mentioned the unsorted suspension and bumpy ride, a trademark Mahindra quirk, which will not cut it in the premier segment. Ideally Mahindra should have done a Hexa wrt to the Alturas, got it dynamically sorted, put in nifty features, made it reliable and price it well.
Even now if Mahindra prices their car about 8 lacs cheaper than the Fortuner, they will get business

A lot of discussion on this thread (and in some of the video reviews!) seem to forget this is NOT a Mahindra vehicles, except for the badge. So the vehicle characteristics shouldn't really be traced to any previous Mahindra tradition or a continuation of any peculiarities from previous vehicles. That said, jeez, that ugly 'Alturas G4' badge is pure Mahindra silliness! Compare that to the nice, tasty 'Rexton' badge on the back of the original! Trust Mahindra to mess up the one thing they put their hands on.

Although I have not drive the Alturas yet but the few things that have put me off already are -

1. No Auto dimming IVRMs.
2. Fixed middle row and lack of 3rd row space and comfort.
3. No running boards for passengers + 243 mm ground clearance.

I feel these 3 could have been easily been fixed before they unveiled it.

Still eagerly awaiting for the New Endeavour launch.

Recently toyota updated the Fortuner and now it comes with Auto dimming IRVM.

They updated the fortuner in September and now it has got auto IVRM.

All the fortuners (new ones) that I saw lately didn't have it. Always wondered how come a 32+ lakhs vehicle doesn't get an auto-dimming IRVMs. Good that they rectified their mistake, better late than never. Hope M&M follows the suit.

Any update on Alturas launch. I guess it was supposed to be launched today. Quite surprising there is no spark of a premium offering from Mahindra and Tata Harrier thread is flooded with numerous posts.

It's not really a Mahindra, is it? Whether they choose to call it Mahindra Alturas G4 or Ssanyong Rexton.

Personally speaking - I don't feel an emotional connect to it, as I would with the 'Indian' Harrier, but then most Indians won't really know or bother about this - as long as its a well rounded product and backed by Mahindra.

Anyways - quite a LOT depends on the pricing now!

I am thinking that pricing is what will sail or sink this. It looks like a good product. The interiors are fresh and look upmarket. It has all the bells and whistles and then some. The exterior is non offensive. If they can undercut the Fortuner, they might have a fight on their hands.
Price it too close to it and most of the people I know will be " Just spend XX more and get a Fortuner instead. Why spend so much on this."

Checked with the local delaer Anant cars. They mentioned the launch is postponed to 26th Nov.

The display car has reached the dealership though

Edit: Got information from the Sales manager at Anant cars.
Pricing to be announced today

Also received the following image from him which shows auto dimming IRVM.
