Finally some date is getting quoted for launch. Hope this stays and they launch in November. Looks like there is no option in the market for a 4+2 or 5+2 seat cars currently except BRV and Ertiga with petrol engine. So with this new model, BRV only further loose market share.

For Diesel, we have one more option in the market i.e Marazzo. It would be good if they launch with new Diesel engine to compete with Marazzo. To mitigate this Maruti might launch the diesel with a lower price compared to the outgoing like what they did in Ciaz face lift or at same price to make it more value for money compared to Marazzo. This might help them not to loose out to Marazzo.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

I know I will become a 'jump the gun' personality, but still as the new, enhanced, stronger at the same time light weight 'heartect platform' swift performed poorly at GNCAP we could expect the same from Ertiga too as they share the same platform. But I am sure the fuel efficiency will be on another level for this new Ertiga, which Indians love.

Completely agree! It's grown in size but weight has come down IIRC. There was a news last year that Ertiga scored 4* in the ASEAN NCAP (may be manufactured in outside India) along with Ciaz at that time. This All new model might score 2* as the new Swift scored.

That or worse!!

A little birdie tells me that it has failed miserably in internal safety test(s) but still Maruti is producing 50 vehicles daily.

Really goes to show how much weightage safety is given by Maruti!

My concern is not actually regarding the low safety ratings of the new platform, but about the crash safety norms that GOI is going to implement as Maruti is claiming this platform is made to cater those crash safety norms. So is this an indication of 'what to expect' in the upcoming crash safety norms.

So they are not learning any lessons post the Swift NCAP debacle?

But I am sure, even if it gets 0 stars, its still gonna sell

Not at all surprising. All of the below Maruti cars come under the "New" heartect platform and I am quite sure none of them can score more than 2 stars

- Swift (already tested)
- Baleno
- Ignis
- Ciaz
- Ertiga

I just posted what I read. And I am reading these new date reports as well. Till Maruti Suzuki promises something concrete, these may just be speculations keeping the Diwali time in mind. Let's wait for some official word from MSIL about when will the new Ertiga be launched in the Indian market.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

I don't know where the birdies get their info from. It is inconceivable that a car would be launched while failing in crash tests ( regulatory or NCAP). That would simply imply that MSIL bribes regulatory agencies into accepting whatever they sell. That is not a good statement to make or imply.

Is it just me or do the rear lights look an awful lot like the new Jazz's. Are the designers running out of ideas? To me it appears Hyundai is copying Audi, Honda is after BMW - and now Maruti is also jumping on the train.

Incidentally, the previous gen Jazz also looked like the current gen Ertiga, especially from the rear profile .
