Re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

My sister is in the market to buy an AMT hatchback, primarily for city use. While she has been eyeing the Tiago XZA for over a month, I managed to postpone her decision by asking her to wait for the Santro. Showed her a few released images of the new Santro this afternoon and she wasn't impressed with how the car looks. The Tiago is surely her preferred choice in the visual appeal department. Let's see if the 1.1-litre 4-cylinder engine can do something to change this inclination.

That's a reference to the multiple transmission options on offer - 5-speed MT and AMT.

Thanks for sharing the details with us. Good to know that the AMT drives well. Does it have an electronic park brake? I wonder since P mode is usually not found on cars equipped with AMT.

Also, was the car camouflaged? Any idea whether the AMT one had a rear wiper? Asking since the top AMT variant is Sportz.

Ignis drives well for an AMT and that variant is well priced. Wish it had rear wash wipe like the Baleno AT though. A sad miss by Nexa.

I have to give it to Tata, Tiago is really a looker. Especially the orange and white color trims look very good on the road and I pause to drool at them when I see one. Also always makes me think that it's a great looking car for the price.

Santro teaser pictures so far are underwhelming on the looks department but I have to see one in flesh before passing any judgement.

Re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

This just looks like an amalgamation of those smaller Hyundai models the i10 and the eon. The stand out feature of the original Santro, that tall boy design is completely missing here.
IMO they should have worked on the original design that worked beautifully and made it more modern to suit the current times. Something to differentiate it from the crowd.

Looks like the CNG variant is not coming with AMT. Do we have any car in the Indian market which has a company fitted CNG kit and comes with automatic transmission (be it AMT, Torque Converter, Dual Clutch etc)

First drive impression:
  • AMT integration is better than Marutis
  • Excellent pep for city usage, feels strained on highways
  • Top notch interior quality and design
  • Typical Hyundai Ride and Handling package

Calculation for Santro Magna AMT (second last) seems incorrect in the above price list.

For one, the car does look from pictures in the wild! This colour seems to be looking good on the new Santro!

Don’t think Suzuki can hold a candle in terms of quality and that’s always been Hyundai’s trump card!!

Sure Hyundai has a winner in the making!!

It sure is a winner. I don't see it affecting the WagonR as much as the Tiago and the Celerio. Celerio will be dead for sure.

Looks like hyundai is on all all-out-marketing. Have been seeing couple of add's on both print media and TV. Hope the product stands up to the expectation.

Re: The next-gen Hyundai Santro

The Speedo console looks decent and simple.

If the tuning of that 1.1 is good, there's nothing in this segment to beat that.

Earlier we had beautiful options like beat petrol, i10 1.1 irde, maruti's 4 cylinder 1.1, now, this will be the one small 4 cylinder motor.

There's no reason to deny, it firing the sales chart.

Sadly the prices are never revealed to the dealer.
Considering the digital era prices are released on the very day the launch happens.
