I think you are right, Suman. Even assuming that Hyundai did not put out inflated figures, the fact still remains that the numbers include Verna + Accent + export figures. Possible that the bulk of the figures is made up of Accent and exports, with only a few Vernas. That would explain the non-presence of the car on the roads.

Accent is having very sluggish sales here, in the south after the launch of the Verna...

From the showroom, i was told accent CRDi cost only 30 k, less than VErna... Then, how would it sell???

True, the price difference is only 30K between the CRDIs. But when we say "Accent sales", it includes the low-end GLE, GLS also apart from CRDi, right ?

The price difference between GLE and base model petrol Verna is close to 1lac. Add to this the dismal looks of the Verna and most people might prefer to go the Accent way.

Dealers are selling Accent CRDi at Rs. 6,42,999 Ex Showroom here. May be this is strategy to boost sales of a discontinuing model and once this model is discontinued Hyundai will do a price correction on Verna CRDi? My friends in Ludhiana have unconfirmed reports that Fiesta's Diesels have started visiting workshop for overhauling at 60k-70k so Fiesta's sales have declined. They say All-Aluminum engines for diesel have that problem. Personally I am not buying that argument.

They already have so many of them clocking 60-70k? At 70k, that's about 6k kms a month or about 200 kms a day - I wonder how many people use their cars for that much on a regular basis; the first lot of Fiestas came out a year back.............

No offense to anyone but I think these are completely baseless reports........my opinion

Ludhiana is Cars largest market in North India. How many Merc Showrooms we have in Delhi? Ppl there usually travel thrice a month to delhi and are mostly business class who had to travel a lot whole of Punjab, Jammu Haryana and Delhi. I have seen cars clocking more than 70k per year. And that to a class of Pajeros. So dont underestimate Ludhiana that ways.

I'm not underestimating Ludhiana because that is not the subject under discussion; I'm questioning the fact that ford workshops in Ludhiana are being flooded with Diesel Fiestas who have clocked 60-70k & whose engines need overhauling.

Are you saying that all car owners (or rather Fiesta owners) travel to Delhi (& other places) thrice a month and cover 70k per annum?

Any statistics on total number of Diesel Fiestas in Ludhiana? And if all this is fact, why say "unconfirmed"? I'd say all you (not literally you, could be anyone) need to do is step into a Ford workshop & verify the authenticity....

By the way, we are here I think.......it was about the "missing" Vernas

the number of vernas in delhi is surprisingly low for sure! a friend of mine just bought one and was cribbing bout it looking too funny ( not even getting used to seeing it around!) she suddenly got all excited and pointed to another verna parked in front of lodhi garden !! just to realise it was her car with her mom in it!! lol

i think that just shows how low the number of vernas are there in delhi !

a verna owner trying to spot another one just bumps into her own !! ;-)

but i think its a good car to drive ! smooth and silent and much peppier than the fiesta!!
but the suspension is a little wobbly too soft!!

Hey suman, given your daily drive, you yourself would come pretty close to that number. You do something like 100 odd kms a day, right ?

I also find it tough to believe that today's cars would need an overhaul at 70k kms.

Absolutely correct on the 100 odd kms SB! But this is double of what I do (actually as much as both my vehicles put together do!) - and I thought I was one of the FEW loonies around. There's safety in numbers though

Why speculate when the numbers are available? Figure for the month of October was 2827.

Check Murad Ali Baig's Auto News Bulletin . The Verna is definitely not selling as much as the City.
