Citroen C3 budget crossover for India-img_20220609_103002.jpg

Its raining Citroen C3's in Goa! There's one in every corner running about in the media drive. Saw this mid version I believe which did look good enough for a price bracket of 6-7 lakhs and size wise it was big enough to match the Sonet I was sitting in. A worthy competition I see.

Out on the Chennai- Trichy highway, I was following a test mule for quite some time. It seemed to ride flat and fast. Didn't notice any jiggly ride behaviour. It did look small (or Compact) from the outside. The paint seemed smooth giving the body a tough look. Reviews will reveal the true nature of this car.

Did I read it right that the C3 doesn't get a Tachometer? Can somebody please confirm?

C3 with white body and orange roof looks like son of 'Sonam' especially with matching white body and orange roof .

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

I remember seeing a C3 being tested on Bangalore roads back in 2019. I am assuming that COVID potentially delayed the plans to launch. It looks nice and funky and different from rest of the CSUV gang. ONly want for Citroen to make any inroads is to do what Renault did with KWID. Offer good product at vfm pricing.

Had the opportunity to see the C3 at the media drive venue in Goa. Must say it looks great barring the steelies. The two tone scheme looks nice. I especially liked the grey+orange dual tone scheme.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

High on customization is one of the key differentiator to Citroen C3:

Citroen C3 Customization Packages:

Convenience Pack:

This package adds some essentials, such as mud flaps, a trunk mat and floor carpet mats. It also gets you a few creature comforts, such as a leather steering wheel cover, perfectly-shaped rear windshield blind, window sun blinds, neck pillows, seat cushions and even a seat belt cushion.

Vibe Pack:
It adds fog lights, orange fog light surrounds, side mouldings and orange surrounds for the reflector on the rear bumper.

Elegance Pack:

Will provide chrome trim on the front and rear bumpers and side moulding, chrome door handles, chrome window beltline and another shiny trim piece on the taillights.

Energy Pack:
The Energy Pack gets you front and rear skid plates, a roof spoiler, door visors on the windows and wheel arch cladding.

Other than the trim packages, accessorize the C3 with a number of useful bits such as:

Bumper corner protectors
A car cover
Engine guard
Door edge and doorsill guards
Dual-USB charger
Rear seat organiser
Jump starter
An air purifier
Touchscreen guard
Emergency car tool

In the base-spec C3, can add a set of speakers and a 2-din audio system, in addition to essentials such as a parcel tray and alarm system. Can also get a rear camera harness to add an aftermarket reversing camera to the C3.

So far the C3 looks good, but ultimately for a relatively unknown brand like Citroen to succeed in the mass market segment, pricing is the key.

The customisation options do look impressive. While pricing remains the key, market success of the vehicle is not solely dependant on the factor IMO. Requoting my own post here-

With dealer network as sparse as this, the rationale behind Citroen's strategy for Indian market is a bit perplexing to say the least!

Impressive lost of customization options; I like this piecemeal approach. This can give options to the cost conscious buyer who might wish to accessorise his vehicle to a certain budget / looks.

Citroën needs to price this one smartly and not be too greedy.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Autocar India's interview with Citroen's brand head, Saurabh Vatsa. They have tried asking him some of the decisions regarding C3 we have been discussing in the thread.

I don't get them but then may be I am not their target audience for this car! To me it seems like they want young first time buyers to go for C3. It can happen if the price it right and work on their after sales service network.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

I honestly am not a fan of how the citoren C3 looks. Such a half hearted attempt by citoren
1. Lacks led or projector headlamps.
2. The wheels looks very small in comparison to the rest of the car. They should have given at least 16 inch alloy wheels instead of 15.
3. My 2012 Punto has adjustable headrest and much better shaped ones too. They headrest looks extremely uncomfortable.
4. The flap type door handles are so old. They could have gone for flushed ones.
5. Not a fan of the orange in the interior. But that is subjective to everyone's taste. Why are the window buttons placed in middle instead on the door handle on driver side ?
6. No electrical adjustment and folding of orvm. Its a big miss in 2022.
7. Sunroof should be given as an option. No automatic climate control is also a big miss.

I believe punch is a better product than C3 aircross.
