I beg to differ, the New 5th Gen Honda City does come with ESP. It's standard across the range unlike stupid Hyundai/Kia cars were it's available only on DCT or Top Most Variant. While safety is a paramount, Indians take it very likely. I hate sunroof and other fancy stuffs. To me car is all about how good to drive it is, how fun it is behind the wheel and how comfortable it is for occupants. I am a minor but majority of others are like Hey, my car has that yours doesnt have it. I can do that, this, can you do the same with your car. This new i20 will sell despite having many drawbacks. If someone ask me what are they, I'll tell them right way even before the car is launched. Cramped & Claustrophobic Interiors Stiff Ride Quality Lifeless Steering Average Cabin Insulation Poor Fuel Efficiency (Especially Petrol) Higher Turning Radius Now, coming to other part, why it'll sell is Design, Features, Engine Options Hyundai Brand Reputation Currently I also drive i20 Diesel along with my trusty Tiago Diesel. If not for lack of options, I wouldn't have bought the i20 back in 2015. Regarding brake issue, my car too has it. Brakes are not effective, and car takes time to come to a halt. It's very scary if one is over 130 kmph. Have already changed brake pads twice but of no use. Then I had other troubles as well, due to low profile tyres one rim was damaged. AC gave up on a hot summer day and same time Engine Check light came up. Radiator was replaced due to some fault in cooling system. Twice the car wouldn't start. Battery was fine, but there was a problem with Clutch Sensor which activates push start stop button. Have never faced such serious issues with my humble Tiago. I didn't expect Tata to be more reliable than Hyundai. If I tell this to my friends and known ones, they'll not believe it unless I explain what has happened. So, ya I am a one off guy disappointed with i20. Never will I buy it again in my lifetime and its not on my recommendation list either. Goodluck to prospective new i20 buyers. Wish you a trouble free ownership experience.

| ![]() I for one am very bullish on the new i20. The looks although evolutionary, are tempting enough for me to switch from my i10 grand. The package is typically Hyundai and Hyundai vehicle owners should not have too much trouble switching to or upgrading to new i20. Having worked with the Japanese OEMs for a long time now, I absolutely relish the way Hyundai does things differently and always comes up with segment first features that the conservative Japanese ORMs seldom/never do in India at least. Safety wise, if Baleno can sell 20K every month, it is useless cribbing about safety as for sure i20 will be a safer car than Baleno, ESP or no ESP. |

I stand corrected. The 5th Gen Honda City does have ESP(VSA). Koreans are strange. They do so many things really well, but miss the basics. |

I am looking for a hatchback & even though the design of the i20 attracts me, AC & breaking issues will force me to stay away from the i20.

| ![]() IMHO, atrociously overpriced. C'mon, a 1 Ltr turbo petrol offering 120 ps on tap gives out a claimed efficiency of 20.25 kmpl. I bet ARAI needs an NCB raid at their offices. And the best of all, I get to know the man behind the ugly massacre he has been doing at Hyundai. Mr. Simon Loasby, you are the first on my hitlist when I get invisible. ![]() Last edited by chiefpk : 5th November 2020 at 12:41. |

| ![]() Starts in the Jazz category, horrendous starting point at 8+L OTR, loses the VFM appeal and the Baleno is priced well below this. |

| ![]() Prices are on higher side in my view. One cant have top end in 1.2 petrol or iMT turbo. Such prices for an old and not as impressive as rivals 1.2 petrol unit is too much to pay for. Lets see how market responds. I guess that Venue in that price range is more practical buy than i20. This new i20 is based on the Santro platform just like Venue ? |

| ![]() The pricing is slightly higher than I expected TBH. A DCT at 9.99 should've been offered ideally! Top trim variant of the i20 is getting into Venue/Sonet top minus one variant range. However looking at the recent trends, this was expected. It does have all the bells & whistles! |

| ![]() The DCT 1L turbo is atrociously overpriced! I hope Tata launches the Altroz Turbo at a decent price and Hyundai realizes their gross mistake. Venue DCT is a better option IMHO. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Asta and Asta (O) are way overpriced. Top of the line variants (with the exception of 1.2 petrol) will touch the 12L on-road price here in the north, which is too much for a hatchback. |
