I would have purchased Alto but no AMT was a deal breaker so went for Spresso.

Wow, this is reall uncompetitive pricing. Am happy that we got the Santro Sportz AMT earlier this year for less than 6 lakhs on road post discounts. And that has multimedia screen, Android Auto, and reverse camera that probably comes only on top end Zxi+ AGS Celerio that will cost 1.5 lakh more!

On the design front though, the Celerio has some Micra vibes, and thats a good thing. But interiors are typical Maruti drab

No reverse camera at all in celerio. Not even in top model.

I believe hill hold is an important feature for amt cars. As @fhdowntheline said, datsun go seems more value for money now. But datsun service is a hit or miss

Looks like Maruti used AI to fuse the A-Star and Alto into one, and lo and behold, we have the all-new, dazzling, Celerio.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Why is the 1.0L Celerio AMT top spec costlier than 1.2L wagon R AMT? It's even more expensive than Ignis Zeta AMT and Alpha Manual. Start stop feature and Hill hold assist is more expensive than 1.2L 4 Cylinder Engine?

Perhaps it's the engine. Maybe K10C is more modern and hence more expensive than K12B?

Not sure about the cost part yet, but the K10C gets Dual VVT, Dual Injectors, Water cooled EGR and host of other changes over the older K series.

Plus leoshashi ,corect me if I am wrong. Is this k10c engine imported? The k10c turbo was imported for the baleno RS and so was the initial k12c Dual jet. This could be one of the reasons for the price gap. Personally I wouldn't mind paying more if it was a made in japan engine

No, the engine itself isn't imported, but some components sure are. Localisation level is not as high as older K series engines, but is good. Being a mass market car, they cannot launch it with a fully imported powertrain.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Why would someone pick this cost cutting ugly contraption instead of WagonR or even Tiago ?! With all the cheap tactics Maruti Suzuki incorporated in this car, many hoped car will be priced very aggressively ! I really hope this flops. After 2 years of hiatus, this is what Maruti Suzuki comes up with

I bursted out laughing after seeing this hideous facelift! The front reminds me of an amalgamation of Geely's LC with Cherry Arizzo 5's grill. The ongoing model is no looker, but better than this so called frown face facelift.

For those worried about the Ignis, don’t worry, that is an “SUV” (premium one at that - Nexa) in Maruti’s books. This is a hatchback (regular one - Arena), so aimed at different customers and no probability of one eating up the other.

26.88 kmpl?

Surely MSIL hired ex-Frito-Lay employees whose strategy was to cut down weight by filling gaps with air.
