Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

If Force is able to pull good numbers, with the revenue coming in, we might see or can expect great support from them. Mahindra has been a Powerhouse with SUV's in India and it is not going to be easy to compete with them but there is space for everyone in the room.

If 9th September (Rumoured Date of launch) is the date of its unveiling, I am so waiting for TBHP to get its hands on Gurkha 2021 and do a head-to-head comparison on what extra it brings to the table.

5 Door + 2.2L Engine is a dream come true but 2.6L with 3 door will also do if it offers bang for the buck.

it is the old gurkha. It has indicators in the front. The new one doesn't have it there in the front.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

The Gurkha is similar to one of those desserts that look great but may disappoint you when you take the first bite. The G wagon inspired SUV in the new avatar looks good and the color schemes are quite attractive. Went through the interior videos available online and while the dashboard has shown improvement over the previous generation, the steering still leaves much to be desired. The fixed rear glass area is great for the view but Force should have considered the sliding glass feature for ventilation with the AC switched off. I love the alloys and the extra fitments in way of snorkels, roof carrier etc. Would have loved the vehicle to have the 2.2 engine with the extra grunt. It appeals to the heart and there is nothing like it on the roads. Lastly the million dollar question, will I be willing to put my money on the Gurkha in its new avatar? Sadly no, as the Thar has taken the game a notch further. If the Gurkha is available down the lane with the 2.2 engine in the 5 door guise I will surely love to give it a try.

"The fixed rear glass area is great for the view but Force should have considered the sliding glass feature for ventilation with the AC switched off." This is of high importance especially for the members living in hilly and cold areas like me and whose family members sometimes get travel sickness.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

OMG is it a camera angle trick/illusion, that I see tight and uniform shut lines on the rear door that too from Force motors! Even my tigor is not that consistent and tight on this aspect. The alignment of all the 3 glass panels on the rear look seamless and well put. Lets wait and see howmuch improvement that have made.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

The exterior looks good. But going by the pics of the interior, it doesn't look appealing. It still looks like it is 10 yrs old. The infotainment system looks after market-ish. It's improved over the previous generation, no doubt. But it's also going to be a deal-breaker, no doubt.

The other improvement I recommend: the engine.
It may be capable and all, but Force should remember that they're competing against the mighty Mahindra Thar. 90 PS might be sufficient, but again, it isn't very appealing on the spec sheet. I know that we'd drive the car and not the spec sheet. But a big chunk of people who have booked the Thar have done it just by looking at the spec sheet & no test drive.

The biggest thing that it'll have going for it would be it's pricing. It has to be very competitive, almost like what the XUV7OO did. And that reminds me, it would also compete with the XUV7OO. Man, it's going to be a tough fight for the Gurkha!

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

According to me they are looking for a 100 to 150 nos per month in initial phase. which by the looks itself should be achievable.

For such low volumes competing against giants like XUV 700 or THAR for price wont be the case.

I feel this is just for keeping the brand alive & appealing to make some 150 people every month switch who have parked there money on THAR to GURKHA.

If they are able to succeed in that, then we can see light for other engine, transmission & seating options.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

The exteriors are like wow; a break from the more common Thar (err Rubicon). Interiors looks good too. Hope the new Gurkha comes with enough safety equipment, the norm these days(thanks to Tata and Mahindra). Isn't the 89 BHP too less a power for a vehicle of this size? Is it just on paper or actually suffers due to low power?

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

New Gurkha looks pretty good from the outside. Pasted side glass looks neat. I hope they don't delay the 2.2 Crde.If priced competitive Force would do magic in terms of numbers.

Re: Next-gen 2020 Force Gurkha spied

As long as Force motors prices it sensibly there will be a significant number of buyers for it. They need to learn a trick or two from Mahindra on pricing. The introductory prices of the XUV500 and now the 700 gave them the momentum to accelerate ahead of everyone in their segments. They now know the features and price of their main and only competitor, if they have any sense the Gurkha may finally have its day under the sun.

Gurkha Defined
A member of any of several peoples of Nepal noted for their military prowess.

What are Gurkhas famous for?
The Gurkhas are soldiers from Nepal who are recruited into the British Army, and have been for the last 200 years. Gurkhas are known to be as fearless in combat as they are good natured in daily life. To this day, they remain renowned for their loyalty, professionalism and bravery.

What makes Gurkhas so tough?
Bravery, loyalty and honour are at the heart of Gurkha culture, as exemplified by their motto, which translates as “better to die than be a coward”. ... Since 1911, members of the Gurkha regiments have won 13 Victoria Cross medals for exceptional bravery. With bravery also comes sacrifice.

Why is Gurkha regiment so special?
Since independence, the Gorkhas have fought in every major campaign involving the Indian Army being awarded numerous battle and theatre honours. The regiments have won many gallantry awards like the Param Vir Chakra and the Maha Vir Chakra.

Are Gurkhas fearless?
Such is the reputation of Gurkhas—the fearless, fierce soldiers from Nepal—that even the gritty Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, one of India's greatest military commander, was an avowed admirer: ”If a soldier says he is not afraid of death, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha.”

If you ask me, it is the best name given ever to any car sold in India. Gypsy comes close. I can't think of anything else that evokes such emotion as the Gurkha. Do we have a thread for this naming thing lol.

I would buy this beast just for the name. If only Force would up its servicing game, so many of us would be Gurkha Warriors out there...
