I think its 8.5 OTR - Thane.
If thats true; then Zxi will be placed between City GXi & VTec
Thats not very gr8....was expecting something in EXi range.

Btw, saw one of the auto show and wasn't very impressed with the looks of it and even interior was plasticy like Swift...not very gr8 for this segment.

I think the launch is tomorrow evening; so lets wait n watch.....

Rahul,
Two things why i think ET news is non-reliable.

1. The ET website shows SX4 Hatchback in the pic!

2. It talks about 2 variants, not 3. Lxi and Zxi ! here is the quote from the site:

The all new SX4 sedan from Maruti is being launched in two variants sporting 1.6 litre engine. The lower version of SX4, LXi, is likely to be priced at Rs 5.5 lakh and the higher variant, ZXi, would be approximately priced at Rs 7 lakh.

As of now there are 2 variants. Vxi & Zxi. There's supposedly no Lxi as per the MUL salesperson.

The original post by rahul_intlad mentioned 3 variants. Hence the confusion.

In any case, Lxi, Zxi doesnt make sense. The ET article is confusing.

I still cant digest the fact Maruti is launching a sedan with 16" wheels

Really if any variant of SX 4 is priced below 6lacs then its surely gonna give some hard time for Honda n Hyundai........

Lets wait and see............

Yes, that's true. The SX4 comes only in 2 variants as per the official brochure which I have. The same shows only 2 variants Vxi and Zxi and there is no mention of any Lxi.

I've put down the specifications from the brochure which can be viewed at the following link.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/430133-post490.html

I thought of scanning it and uploading the same so that the features also can be viewed. But due to personal work, could not do the same.

will know in 2 days. I am sure there will be a base base version without the frills, otherwise it is not a maruti.

That might be for the ZXI only. The rest will come in 14 inchers

Just saw it in car & bike show, looks good, infact the tyres look imposing like an audi/bmw/merc. The interiors look excellent as good as a civic (if you forget that cockpit like speedo), would have been good if they have come out with a diesel too. Comes is two trims the Vxi & Zxi, Zxi looks like a bombshell. If it comes below 6.5 its going to clean up the Verna & the City.

Looking at the price differential between the two variants I have a feeling that Maruti is straddling two horses at a time. They are trying to gauge the market. I also get a feeling that SX4 in its 5.5lac variant (VXi, LXi... whatever) will sell the most. The ZXi is just going to test the waters at the top end.

In fact considering that everyone saw only the ZXi variant and its bells and whistles we should not be surprised if the lower end variant has no such things as steering mounted controls, large front discs (not to speak of the alloys) and all the other novelties.

P.S. This strategy IMO is a bit of a suspect. A person who will buy or even think of buying a 8 lacs+ sedan may not like it much if he finds that a way cheaper variant of the same car is already flooding the market. Kind of takes that exclusivity away. You can either go mass market or try for that rarefied field of exclusivity.

The rarified field of exclusivity is not maruti's forte. Guess they should stick to the mass market, unless they come out with a different brand name.

Guys,

Here is the snap shot of the brochure that I have. Could not scan it. Hence took a snap and then uploaded it.

You can have a look at both the features and specifications from the image. Tried my best to get good quality snapshot.

Off topic: Does Suzuki have a luxury brand anywhere in the world?

On the SX4 - MUL definitely can't repeat the Baleno mistake - not unless they have become overconfident after Swift's success. We'll find out after the official launch.

PS: Wasn't someone talking about SX4 being targetted as the second car of Merc/BMW owners?
