Although I voted for German, I like Italian cars! How come it is missed? The Ferrari, Lambo, Bugatti, Pagani, Maserati, the works!

I would prefer a Japanese car for reliability and economy of fuel. European cars are expensive. Don't know much about reliability of those but they are all expensive so far at least in India (with the exception of the FIats coming in recently).
American brands are notorious for their unreliability and even in the US people prefer Japanese cars which makes Toyota the highest seller of cars in the land of GM and Ford.

my vote goes for japanese car manufacturer, reliability, and fuel efficient engines they make, even GM and Ford failed in their own land against toyota which is selling more to them in US.

British - Nothing comes close to Brit cars in terms of sheer Class - Love Land Rovers and Aston Martins.
German-Mittel European - appreciate their Top Engineering and Solid reliability
Italian - The Gods of effortless Style/ Elegance
Japanese/Korean - Reliability, Affordability, VFM, inexpensive to run and maintain.
Indian (specifically Mahindra SUV's) - the only ones I believe I am comfortable with in terms of VFM/ toughness/ reliability/ maintenance and overall affordability given the type of vehicles that I personally like and the way I personally use them.
US - dont really like their cars (except the Jeep brand)- always found them to be too large and ponderous and give an impression of being terrible gas guzzlers.

I prefer the Japs as there cars are reliable, cost effective, Fuel efficient & Value for money. Japanese cars rules the world and they have brought Auto Giants like GM to there knees on there own territory.

Toyota, Honda, Suzuki & Nissan find there way in the Top ten list of auto manufactures , with Toyota leading the pack.
My vote for the Japs.

I thought Koreans would be winning the poll.. but never mind.. I love Japanese..Damn reliable, affordable, VFM (not really these days, see city and Jazz.), and moreover one of them also add the magical word performance to the Japanese side.. the MITSUBISHI..I m an EVO maniac.

But for out and out class, driverability, engineering and brand value..its the german cars I would love to own..personally love the 5 series and the M3, M5 and M6.. if its an SUV..AUDI Q7 it is, if its 4 wheel drive the A4 it is and if its for a CEO.. the S class..

However, If I was to go to see Shahrukh Khan.. I d go in a Santro

well, if I am I and it is now then the car is Jap (that's where my vote went); but if I am not then it is the German for me with the Autobahn thrown in. Frankly, I had never imagined that we would one day have good roads in India. We mostly cursed rather than prayed for better roads and today there are pretty good roads around. In the near future we shall have really smooth roads, and shall build our own mercs and beemers. Just keep at it!

Koreans Catching up

I think its the Koreans who have leaf frogged in the auto space. Especially Hyundai which is now a global brand with global autos.. Also erstwhile Daewoo were churning out some great cars (Matiz) etc before they got sold off to GM. So watch out for the Koreans.. The next bunch of guys are our very own Indian guys (Tatas and M&M) wait and watch..

I'd go with German. They made the first car and still make some of the best cars in the world. I am an absolute fan of the SL 500 (R129s) and would love to own a SL 73 AMG.

+1 to that. I have always believed that if you want class, go British! And if it is bullet proof build quality, go German (though what is happening at Skoda as detailed somewhere else is horrific - but console myself that Skoda is Czech-German!). If it is technology, just give in to the Japs. But if love style and want eye-catching attention , Italians win hands down!!
