Re: Maruti may do a U-turn on plan to ditch diesel, diesel re-entry likely in 2021

Spotted this Tata Nexon running test plates in our society yesterday ( our society is very close to the Maruti Manesar plant). It had the diesel noise and drove off as soon as I took the picture. No badging at the rear, no test equipment noticed.

Re: Is this the Tata Nexon DCT?

Complete silence on the DCT front! Can anyone confirm if the launch will take place this year?

Re: Is this the Tata Nexon DCT?

It’s been a while. Are there any news/updates on if and when Tata is planning to launch the DCT version of Nexon/Altroz?

The punch was launched recently. Also, Altroz and Nexon are already selling real good. So, they will delay it so as to space out the launches.

When it comes to the the ALTROZ DCA, Tata Motors has been testing the DT1 Dual Clutch Transmission sourced from PUNCH POWERTRAIN, Belgium. DT1 is a very compact cost effective DCT unit with a normal wet clutch multiplate system. Tata Motors was very keen to have a wet clutch instead of the dry clutch system taking into account the durability of DCT it offers. What I understand is Schaeffler India has provided Tata with a cost effective Multiplate Wet Clutch solution for the DT1 from Punch Powertrain, thereby making the DCA unit more affordable; at the same time durable for Indian Climate and Traffic conditions. Multiplate makes the DT1 unit compact and the wet clutch system takes care of the wear and tear. The noise level in wet clutches is less when compared to dry clutches. The presence of oil between plates help in managing the noise.Wear and tear is very much less in the wet clutch and the lubricating oil keeps surfaces clean and provides smoother performance and longer life.

Re: Is this the Tata Nexon DCT?

Is tata going to launch Nexon or Punch with DCA anytime soon? I am looking for a hatchback with good ground clearance or CSUV with automatic gearbox under Rs. 10 lakh on road mark.
