The timing isn't a coincidence = it is perfectly timed. Hyundai is telling you that instead of buying a 5-seater Skoda Octavia (which is being unveiled as I type this), why don't you instead buy our 7-seater SUV at a lower price.

Hyundai has done a very good job by choosing the brown colour for the interiors. I see a lot of customers waiting for the new Creta change their bookings to Alcazar if it’s priced 1-2lacs more than the Creta.
This will also prove to be a very good alternative for the people who are not willing to pay a north of 20lacs for a Tata product and at the same time are not sure about the MG brand.

This time around atleast Hyundai can say that they have tried to match the key fob colour with the interior colour

Weird, I actually like the way this car looks! Also, the scoop pictures had left me wondering how captain seats are going to be, but seems like a proper execution (IMO Safari seats are not good). Will this be priced at par with Tuscon or below it?

My only grouse with Hyundai right now is their willingness to look sideways when GNCAP ratings are mentioned. Apart from that, this car has everything one expects, not just needs.

The studded grille looks marginally better than the one with horizontal slats in the Creta. The rear bears an uncanny resemblance to the Endeavour. Love the interiors though, Hyundai did it right by opting for a darker shade, instead of beige/ivory.

As usual, Hyundai has nailed it in terms of loading the car with features, that the mass market loves. Ambient lighting, logo projection, digital instrument cluster (which looks much better than the one seen in i20 and Verna IMO), retractable seat back table with cup holders, etc are going to lure a lot of (potential) buyers towards this car.

Hope Hyundai prices it correctly, if they are optimistic with the pricing, they'll enter the Safari price territory, which could be detrimental. I suspect that Hyundai will eventually introduce the turbo petrol as well, as and when the market accepts the enlarged Creta

The car looks good enough to be a best seller Hyundai. Love the interior colours they chose. Very premium. Currently considering this as a replacement for my previous gen Creta. In my opinion, this will make sense only if it is priced 1.5 to 2L over the Creta, especially for the diesel. It is based on a smaller car than Hector+/Safari, has a much smaller 1.5L diesel engine. I like the car, but I am surely not willing to pay Safari money for this.

Alcazar is not only better looking than Creta, it is probably one of the best looking 7 seaters out there, IMO. The rear end looks more mature and the overall design definitely is far from polarizing. However, I personally am not a big fan of the chrome applique on the tailgate.

Wow, this does look amazing from inside. I personally was thinking if I should wait for new Tucson, but this probably will be 80% Tucson, except for the outer styling where new Tucson looks much better. Will go and take a look at it in the first chance available, if Hyundai price this right, this is going to be a block buster.

For the ongoing question, will this be the Innova challenger, I think definitely Yes, it might not dethrone Innova, but it will pull away a lot of the Innova customers for sure.

Hyundai is yet to reveal the spec sheet.

The petrol automatics are available only as 6 seater versions, and diesel auto is available as 7 seater in the mid variant only - as per previous leaks posted here. What is the logic behind this? Those who chose automatics usually prefer captain seats? It would be interesting to see a statistic of the 6/7 seater sales split.

From the images in the brochure, the middle row can be flipped and tumbled for easy ingress/egress but once in position, can the middle row slide back/forward (There seems to be no space under the middle row seats and the floor carpeting, where the sliding mechanism and lever is placed)? This will be crucial for comfort when all seats are occupied.

I do not dig the dual tone brown interiors though. Would prefer an all black or beige interiors. The brown would not go well with all exterior colors. Would look horrendous on blue for example.
