High security registration plates (HSRP) in India

matter of fact I've driven to Goa,TN,AP and KL and none had issues.

No offence, but those plates look awful on the Alto. Simply too small for the car.

Where did you get these plates done in Bangalore? I'm also looking to get these for my cars as well.

The size of number plates to be put on vehicles are clearly mentioned by each state's Transport departments. Anything smaller than that is illegal. It doesn't mean that it is ok, if your are not caught. AFAIK these small number plates are meant for two wheelers.

those are 2 wheelers number plate (size.. not number). I've got the big ones in the boot for quick change when necessary.

expensive option, any accessory shop. inexpensive option, JC road by lanes..although you need to bargain a bit.

I know they're small but i hated the notice board sized regular plates.

gpa, anekho: Just visit High Security Registration Anti Theft Smart Car Number Plates manufacturer India and contact them for pickup/courier. It's around Rs.850 for 2 of the long (rectangular) 4 wheeler plates.

Hi Anekho, I'd emailed them & got the following address for Chennai:

The plates cost Rs.750. All you have to do is mention the registration number (over the phone) & the car in question - the plates will be delivered to you on the same day at a location of your choosing !

Please note that these plates have just the hologram & do not include the engine & chassis number as mentioned in the website. On queried in this regard, I was told that they would print those out on non-removable stickers that can be stuck onto the plates.

Contacted the same Utsav plate guy in Mumbai, he quoted 1400 Rs :( , was willing to go down for bulk (read 5 to 6) orders, at the most he will come down by 200 by haggling plus affixing the number plate is your headache.

On close observation it seems that there are two type of number plates even with the so called Utsav dealer, one is the plain stamped and black painted number plate (pune, chennai, delhi) with the GOI logo but without the India hot foiled on it. This one costs around 850 to 1000, the other type with India hot foiled comes at 1200 to 1400. Is my observation correct?

Seems the details on HSRP in the link you posted is dated. The in-principle approval letter from ARAI is dated May 2002.
