I have already mentioned it multiple times in this thread that Carwale has estimated the price of new Octy to be around 15L. Even now, they are quoting the estimated price to be around 18-21L for 2.0TSI engine if Skoda decides to launch 1.5TSI in near future, won't the 15L estimated price make sense, would it ?

I believe it's on 9th June because a few Automotive media houses have been indirectly hinting about Octavia's launch in their live session videos and have also mentioned that the embargo goes up on 9th June, in the evening most probably. So I guess maybe it's on 9th June now... let's see!

I have seen brands like Mercedes launching their cars on one day and then announcing the prices after 20days or so and it makes sense because the brand clearly wants to be in the news and keep up the hype for an entire month.

I find no sense in this, at all! Why not launch it all, at once, especially when the car launch is already so delayed, and anyway all the info regarding the car is out...

Wow, impressed by the overall design appeal and a refreshingnew entrant in D-Class . I've always admired Skoda's asthetic appeal. It'll be interesting to see the brands future strategy in India. Judging by the Zac's engagement over Twitter seems they have very promising plans for India.

Really? How does it matter? Its just one day. It is still better than launching the car in March and announcing the prices in June, no? Lets enjoy the reviews on 9th, absorb all the goodness the Octavia has offer, carefully review the downsides, sleep over it and embrace the pricing next day. Perfect, I think.

Why does Carwale always predict the lowest price? There must be a reason for them to do this, else quite a drastic difference in the price prediction vs. that of the others.

Maybe they know thr people will loose interest when the prices are announced

This way, people can virtually enjoy the car for a day and drool over it (it is really drool worthy). Then the price announcement will bring them back to earth.

Maybe a bit off-topic but wanted to look at the pricing from a different angle for those who believe it should be priced real cheap or at par with the older gen model. For reference, I have a Octavia Onyx 1.8 TSi bought in Jan 2020. The ex showroom price was 19.99 L (on road around 24.4 L) but after discounts, I got it for 22.95 L including extended warranty. L&K at that time was 24.6 L ex-showroom and 28.8 L on road.

On the face value, it sounds like Skoda made decent money at 23 Lakhs but when you see the breakup, it shows something different:



Effectively, Skoda is making gross of 12.5 L out of 23 L in the whole deal. I am not even considering dealer margins which will push the number even lower (probably to single digits). I know the same logic applies to all car manufacturers but compare the quality and technology you are getting with Skoda to other tin cans and suddenly it feels that unless Skoda has started a non-profit organisation, what they are charging is not really exorbitant. If L&K was 24.6 L ex showroom for the last gen, there is very slim chances of Skoda not charging a 2-3 L premium over that for the new model (not factoring in any discounts that they might give).

In May dispatches, the Premium segment is the ONLY one that showed a positive trend. Reason being the dispatches of Skoda's Octavia to dealers.
