According to Zac's comments on Twitter over the last few days, the launch date/format may change owing to the increased cases and lockdown in MH.

Does anybody have more information from the dealers on this?

Launch format probably will change, to a COVID-format. When Apple can do their events, doubt why Skodas of the world will (again!) push the launch date. Expecting the launch to go ahead next week, as planned. [my thoughts, got no info. from any dealer on this :]

The new Octavia looks timeless, as always. Those tail lights really stand out.
The interior also looks cleaner and more premium. Sadly, the AC controls have now moved to the infotainment screen and will be much harder to use.
The 2 litre version should also come with the multilink rear suspension.
The Octavia remains one of the best upgrades from my existing Polo GT TSI.

Yikes ! what a hideous & a menacing looking front grill. Only the Chinese can have a penchant for these cars with shark face looking grills, as is evident from these Chinese cars of yesteryears.
Hope they never chrome the front grill for the Indian model !

Understand that Octavia will launch with just 2.0L TSI engine (at least to begin with). Am I the only one who thinks that they are also going to release a Sportline version for the Octavia too in the 1st go itself? I think that's a huge possibility. Looking forward.

I just wish they launch the Sportline version here in Indian. Two main reasons for me is 1. The awful beige interior 2. Those ugly chrome grill lip and all other exterior chrome parts.

Sports seat, black interior, De-chromed exterior, 2L TSI+ DQ381 will be dream come true. Fingers crossed.

The de-chroming would be great, but the real killer feature would be different rims.

I really dislike how the rims look on the India spec Octavia, and if the Superb is a blueprint for all future Skoda India Sportline trims, the rims will be much sportier looking.

This pushes the launch of the Kodiaq ahead as well, presumably.
However, all said and done, postponement seems to be the right thing to do given that it might be difficult to celebrate anything in these circumstances.

So my SA mentioned a few things today:

1. No clarity about the launch date
2. Price will be 29 to 31L OTR Kolkata (remember RTO taxes are amongst the lowest here)
3. No sunroof

P.S: I dont think any of these are not confirmed though.

There goes the dream of owning the top trim Octavia. That’ll make BLR OTR to be 30 to 33. Sigh. With the discounts on Superb, wonder if anyone will end up buying either - at least those on the fence. Hoping to be surprised further by the pricing.

Wouldn't be surprised if top end in Bangalore is 33 lakhs. The previous generation L&K was around 29 lakhs and new one has a better engine, power output and gearbox. So the price is still justifiable, seeing how Compass and other cars are priced.
Personally, if I am in the market, would buy Octavia over Superb due to more fun to drive (expected) and a generation new.
