As unveil nears for Toyota D22, the SUV in new spy pics! Pics are of YFG.

- All 4-disc brakes
- 17 inches Tyres

The front grill design seems different from the render. There seems to a partition in the grills which is missing in the other rendered images. All wheel disk brakes is a welcome.

The side angle screams "Global Vitara". With these pictures, I am pretty sure its based off Vitara as opposed to Toyota-Daihatsu platform, which is indeed a good thing as the Vitara platform has historically seen good reviews. The grille with a partition in between could be to be their way to differentiate the car from Vitara. Really looking forward to this new entrant.

Please don’t go by ACI’s renderings of the YFG/D22, what they have made is utter nonsense!!

They have taken the body shell of the S-Cross and have rendered the look according to them, which isn’t the case and are creating/giving the twins a fake crossover-like appearance in the media that made the S-Cross to actually fail against the more upright looking Creta when it was launched…

Please wait for the real deal is what I would recommend, once more details are out.

Can’t believe that there so much confusion on what platform the YFG/D22 is going be based on!! Same thing is going on with the Innova Hybrid as well.

Some publication says XYZ, others follow it; and then another one comes and says we have confirmed that the car will be based on the ABC platform, a few days later everyone is back at the XYZ platform.

Becoming very frustrating now

Thanks gaadiwadi for making it easier to compare.

1. ORVM looks different, though the placement is spot on. Almost all modern TNGA based Toyotas have it mounted lower on the door.
2. Wiper resting point is different.
3. Wheel arches are round on the Vitara, but squircle(?) on the YFG/D22.
4. More pronounced rear haunches on the Vitara?
5. The Vitara has the exhaust can placed transversely like the Brezza and old 3 door Vitara, while the YFG/D22 looks like it will have a normal exhaust. Also has an underbody mounted spare tyre.
6. Thicker window door frames.

That said, this definitely looks eerily to a Suzuki product than a Toyota one. Just hope the hybrid system is Toyota's, not Suzuki. Guess the now weak K15 would be the base engine. The K14 boosterjet would be welcome as the fun variant.

Waiting for some media to extrapolate the Innova hybrid platform rumour and say that the D22 will also be based on the TNGA-C platform.

It's probably a 9-inch touchscreen unit, running on the brand new SmartPlay Pro Plus system that's also available on the new Baleno. We also see a multi-functional steering wheel here, in which controls for audio and cruise control systems are given

the vehicle has a blue engine start/stop button, which can indicate a strong hybrid powertrain

the new SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with Toyota's hybrid system.

Also to a mild-hybrid powertrain or turbo-petrol engine option.

Toyota's SUV will differentiate from the YFG in Interiors too.

This seem to be Toyota version of the vehicle. Especially, the front end looks very similar to the Toyota Venza

I have an increasing suspicion that this is definitely the revised Vitara that Maruti is planning to launch.

I wonder why aren't they launching the car as yet. The uncertainty and wait is frustrating. Have to book a car but the launch with hybrid is a a very tempting option. God knows what will be the waiting period as every one seems to be quoting 7 to 8 months the day from launch. Honda hybrid is an example. And I hope they price the car sensibly unlike Honda which is not at all value for money at 24 lakhs on road.
