Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

From VW/Skoda Standpoint, i guess all the existing and future models will be E20 compliant.

There have been many tweets to former Skoda India Brand director, Mr. Zac and below were the responses.

Ps: The queries were from customers owning India 2.0 (1.0/1,5 TSI) as well as CKD(2.0 TSI) models .

I hope so too. I really don't think Skoda/VW would have participated in this rally if they weren't already E20 compliant. Keenly awaiting more news in this regard.

But considering this rally happened in Bangalore, doesn't it make more sense for Toyota to have participated, since it's their home turf and they claim the Hyryder is E20 compliant? Or did they? I remember seeing Corolla's Flex fuel variant being present when this ethanol blending concept was brought out by the minister.

Since most of these cars are made by Suzuki, does this mean that Suzuki equivalent models are E20 compliant too?

Like others I cannot seem to find an answer to the key question: Till how long will E10 be available?

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

Note that current E20 compliance is only "materials" compliance. The engine/ecu is still not tuned to work with E20 fuel and so the drop in performance and economy are a given. The recalibration target is only Mar 2025. And as part of this E20 material compliance exercise, the car makers would have identified the parts that need an upgrade - and if we are only talking about plastic parts, replacing those in pre mar-2023 cars mustn't be a costly exercise.

"Automobile engines can run on E-20 (petrol doped with 20 per cent ethanol) with minor modifications in engine for corrosion etc."

Came across this interesting article yesterday.

Cheers!

Below Statement from Baleno Manual (K12N) 1.2L NA engine in New Baleno.
Apparently it is E20 material complaint.

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

I recently bought the Urban Cruiser (Vitara Brezza twin) and the manual states use 10% blend only.
So now if I am forced to use E20, will that void my warranty!?

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

What modifications are required to convert E10 to E20 compliant cars?
What will be the long term durability of such a conversion with special emphasis on safety?

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

The Kushaq and Taigun get E20 compliant engines, which automatically proves that the earlier versions would not tolerate E20 grade petrol.

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

Some backward compatibility is required for older cars. If 10% is the max that can be tolerated without damage or corrosion to plastic/rubber parts then that is what should be available in the pumps. Govt has to assure us that we will not damage our engines using 20% ethanol blend. Will insurance pay for repairs? This is a very brainless way of making changes in technical requirements.

Will cars manufactured before 2023 be affected due to this new mixture? How long will it take for current cars to be compliant with the new fuel?

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

Yes. usage of any fuel blend beyond 10% will void manufacturer warranty.
Only way to get around this warranty clause is to put premium fuel at sheel or other OMC outlets, which are still E10.

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

Few of cars are already E20 Material complaint. Like for example Vitara , New Baleno. refer to owner's manual under fuel section. Probably new Maruti Fronx might be also be E20 Material Complaint.

Does this mean Kushaq and Taigun were always E20 since their launch? Or only MY 23 ones rolling our after March 2023?
