Should I wait and get a Phase II car or should I get the Phase I version? Dealer says there will be a price hike of around 40k on the Phase II car.
Is the final cost inclusive of recent 10k price hike?

Get a Phase II car / E20 Petrol compliant car. Rs. 40,000 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

If Govt decides to supply only E20 Petrol from 01 April 2025, you will regret decision of getting E10 compliant car now.

Is that actually a possibility? I thought E10 petrol would be available till 2028.

Also are BS4 Maruti cars E20 material compliant? Looks like due to the K10B engine (and other Maruti engines) being made of Aluminum, there is no risk of material damage in existing Maruti engines?

Agree, buying an E10 vehicle in April 2023 is an avoidable risk. There are a few factors at play here:

Lack of choice:
As E20 gets rolled out more and more, even E10 owners may be forced to fill E20 whether they like it or not.

Extra levies on <E20 fuel:
GoI may suddenly levy 'cess' on E10 based on demand-supply scenario.

Crunched rollout timelines:
Given the rapidly accelerating ethanol production in India, timelines for E20 rollout may get crunched leading to total non-availability of E10.

Resale impact:
During resale 5-7 years later, there will definitely be significant discounting of E10 vehicles in the used car market by factoring in potential damage to the relevant components + other prevailing sentiments.

Last but not the least, the actual damage caused to the incompatible fuel system components!

Thank you for the detailed explaination. So I guess it will be better to wait and get an E20 compliant car rather than regretting later.

Dealer is not being honest. It is not possible that a car arriving from the factory NOW is not BS6.2 compliant. These norms formally came into force on 1st April 2023. Maruti made the Brezza engine BS6.2 compliant back in Feb 2023. Pls check the VIN number and verify the date of manufacturing of the vehicle.

Is the new Verna E20 complaint?
The manual say it is E10 only? but dealer says it is E20 compliant.

In this case we would obviously stick to what the manual says, as always.

Is it confirmed that all the phase II Brezza cars are e20 fuel compatible Or are these independent things?

I visited the dealership today and saw the April manufactured Brezza there. It has a sticker inside the fuel filler cap which reads "Upto E20 fuel only".

Also, all phase II cars are meant to be upto E20 fuel compatible.

I went and checked the car, it had "Upto E20 fuel" sticker on the fuel lid. The SA was left red-faced. He said he was not aware that maruti puts these stickers. Not sure if they aren't trained well or they don't have the required information.

Re: List all cars that are E20 and E20+ petrol compliant

I also spoke to a dealership; they had no idea about e20 vehicles. The SA called his trainer in front of me and the trainer confirmed that all new Maruti cars will be e20 compatible.

The SA also sent this article today which confirms it!

So, finally I booked a Brezza ZXI+ AT :-)

This sort of contradicts Honda's earlier statement that all its cars from 2009 are E20 compliant! Or are they talking about something beyond E20 material compatibility here (like performance tuning for E20 fuel)?
