Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

I have a 2022 Jeep compass petrol MT.

On short runs in the city I've got FE between 5.8kmpl to 7 kmpl.

On a mix of ghats and a highway like Pune to Amby Valley or Lavasa i got a FE of 9-11 kmpl.

On a pure highway stretch of Belgaum to Pune the car managed a FE of 14km/l. Only once on the Mumbai Pune expressway to Lonavla we got a FE of 15.5 kmpl.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

XUV 700 Petrol AT - 2.0L Turbo - 200hp

City Mileage with heavy traffic - 5-7 kmpl
City Mileage with normal traffic - 7-10 kmpl
Highway Mileage (80-100kmph) - 12-14 kmpl
Highway Mileage (spirited driving) - 10-12 kmpl

Average mileage since purchase (1841kms) = 10.5kmpl with 70% highway and 30% city use with fair amount of stationary running with AC on.

But its still worth it as its a hoot to drive!

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Audi A4 - 2.0 TFSI quattro - Winter (snow + minus temps) city FE 6-10 kmpl.

Reasons for FE - 2 liter turbo petrol, 221 bhp, quattro AWD, 225 section winter studded tyres, short city runs, manic right foot (at times)

Swift Dzire Automatic - 6 - 9 kmpl in the city (Bombay)

Reasons - 4 speed TC gearbox, tall gears and peppy to drive so I floor it.

Edit - I absolutely love the power delivery in the A4, so I don't really bother with the FE it returns. As long as I have a wide grin on my face, numbers are obsolete.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Ah yes. My fuel guzzler...

Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here-img_7804.jpg
The drive to office with relatively lesser traffic returns 8.4 kmpl

Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here-img_7814.jpg
The drive back has heavy traffic and gets me 6.8 kmpl

Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here-img_8039.jpg
And highways give anything between 11.5 to 12.8 kmpl

Reasons for the low FE? Well, pretty self explanatory.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Although my car is super fuel efficient,
(Nissan Terrano consistently 20 kmpl+ no matter what)

The devils are my 2 wheelers:
Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 2 (8-9 kmpl)
that too on 95 octane fuel.

Kawasaki Ninja:
I use 100 octane fuel in this.
delivers a dismal 8-10 kmpl,
that too at 160 rs a litre :(

But the smiles they deliver per litre,
PRICELESS

I doubt you get to drive the Trans Am much if its in Juneau out of all places!! It is a amazing Machine though and a dream car for most of us 80s kids. I work very closely with Temsco and NorthStar & Wings so i know most of the area..

I drive her about 6 months of the year, and sometimes push it to 7 months before I put her in storage for the Winter. We use Temsco for work sometimes. They're just a few minutes away from me. I'll be pulling her out of storage next week.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

We have 4 Gas guzzlers at home!

My daily driver a 2015 skoda superb 1.8tsi which is running on a stage 2 tune from code6 (240bhp 366nm). I only put XP95 in the Superb as it’s tuned. City mileage is around 7kmpl. But the highway efficiency is pretty good.

We have 2 Petrol, Mercedes Benz GLA 200s. One is a 2016 and the other one is 2018. The 2000cc petrol engine with 183bhp is awesome to drive give an average fuel economy of around 7-8kmpl.

Also have a 2011 Yamaha R1, which accelerates to 170+ in first gear itself. This gas guzzler gets anywhere from 5-8kmpl depending on how hard you ride it.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Mine is a fiat Palio 1.6 sport and it gives me 8-9 in city and ~13 on highways with sedate driving.

Wife's Vespa 150cc gives a mileage of 30-32 max.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Although I never intended to post on this thread, but unfortunately my XUV500 gives me 9.5 to 10kmpl in city which has moderate traffic, which means no traffic jams where my vehicle is not moving at all.

On highway with my way of driving between 100 to 120 kmph it gives only 12.5 kmpl max. I don't accelerate hard unless I need to overtake. My XUV 500 is 4 and half year old with only 24000 kms on its odo.

I drive a Jeep Compass petrol manual. Generally I am a very calm driver who sticks to speed limits mostly. The mileage of the compass has mostly been above 10kmpl for me (by MID). The best I have extracted is around 16kmpl which was on a long drive on the Vellore to Coimbatore stretch (again by MID). For the daily driving in Kerala the MID shows mostly around 12.5kmpl. Overall statistics by Fuelio is below.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Volvo v40 petrol 1.6L turbo with Polestar map (200HP/285Nm) and getrag 6dct450 gearbox, primarily driven in Bangalore traffic:

City 8-9 km/l
Highway 12-13 km/l

The best I have managed is 18.6km/l on a Chennai drive with cc set to 110.

Considering the car weight (1487 kg), power and my heavy foot, the fuel efficiency is pretty good.

Compass diesel manual is pretty fuel efficient, at about 13-15odd in city conditions and 19-20kmpl on highways. Very good for the kind of performance on offer. Cruising at 100kmph means 20kmpl, easy.

The ageing City, again diesel manual, gives 15-18km in city traffic. We don’t take it out on highways anymore.

Jazz petrol manual, well, FE was never the strong suit. 10-12kmpl in city and 15-17 on highways. Tall gearing + small and weedy engine means you really need to make the engine work in first and second gears in city, and in third and fourth gears on highways.
My 2010 petrol Jazz gets me over 20kmpl on early morning airport runs. With zero traffic, I’ve seen 24ish occasionally. Easy to get 12-14kmpl in the city with some bumper to bumper traffic. Not a significant difference after upsizing the tyres either.

The second gear is really tall, but you don’t have to keep it on second until it hits 80. Just switch early to 3rd or 4th gear which work well with low speeds. For a 1.2L, the engine is a delight and revs like a Honda is supposed to!

Perhaps yours is the generation after mine? Or could it be a aircon thing? I see efficiency has reduced recently after the compressor turned weak.

My Gypsy averages 10 kmpl of fuel efficiency, which I consider decent. I also have a Swift which compensates with it frugality.

While still on topic of guzzlers, my RE Thunderbird 350 is returning a milage of around 22 km to every litre of fuel.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Mitsubishi Lancer 1.5 NA Petrol MT 2004 model
City: 9-10 kpl (normal traffic) & 6-8 kpl (bumper to bumper) therefore, city average = 8.5kpl
Highway: 10-12 kpl (sedate driving) & 5-6 kpl (Pedal to Metal) therefore, highway average = 9kpl
Expressway: 15-18 kpl (sedate driving) & 8-10 kpl (Pedal to Metal) therefore, expressway average = 13kpl

All the above figures are with AC on, all the time.

Erstwhile Opel Astra 1.6 NA Petrol MT 1997 model
City: 7-8 kpl (normal traffic) & 4-6 kpl (bumper to bumper) therefore, city average = 6.5kpl
Highway: 9-11 kpl (sedate driving) & 4-5 kpl (Pedal to Metal) therefore, highway average = 8kpl
Expressway: 11-13 kpl (sedate driving) & 6-7 kpl (Pedal to Metal) therefore, expressway average = 9kpl

All the above figures are with intermittent use of AC.

I know what I am getting into while buying these fantastic driver's car. I don't drive to get from Point A to Point B, I drive for the sheer pleasure of driving. I use either public transport or cab if I have to get from Point A to Point B.

Off Topic: Ditto for my Motorcycles as well (read RE Bullet CI 350 and Tbird500). I don't ride to get from Point A to Point B, I ride to feel the absolute joy of riding.

Have absolutely no regrets or heartburn while driving/riding these vehicles, due to driver/rider focused involvement and the sheer joy of experiencing these iconic machines.
