We were in the Mileage challenge sponsered by Maruti. The stereo(though doesnt affect anyways was off.AC was off.Tyre pressure, oils and petrol were tanked up by Maruti for all cars. All the windows were closed. The car was kept within 2K and 3K between 35km/h and 45km/hr. Avoid as many turns as possible. There is too much too it.

Cheers

Guys...I have a Palio S10 and this is the mileage considering the fact I live in Bandra, Mumbai and it is stop-start most of the time :

City : 7.5-8 a/c on all the time, 9 with a/c on 50% of the time.
Highway : 13 witha/c on 70% of the time and 15 with a/c on 40%
The highway figures I got on a 2500km trip to Sakleshpur(on NH48) and back via Goa. The overall figure was 13 and I was pushing it most of the time.

I had a Matiz earlier which used to give me 9.5 in similar city conditions with a/c. So the Palio is really good after considering it is a 1600 cc as compared to 800 cc of the Matiz. I even had the old Palio 1.2 of a friend of mine for about a month and got 9 and this is what prompted me to go in for the Palio because as an overall package, I considered it unbeatable...except for ASS which I only experienced later...that too is improving now.

What a Matiz gave you 9.5 it seriously had some problems since it was told to give more then even a M800 since it was a 800cc engine.. Generally Matiz would be giving 14+

Even I thought that it had problems until I drove it to Goa and got 21 w/o AC. In the city (the conditions in which I drive), I have consistently got between 9-10. The person who bought it from me said 9-10 is OK considering the driving conditions. I had a Maruti 800 non-a/c before that and never got more than 11-12. Since then traffic has almost doubled.

city driving all the time with the a/c on - worst conditions on the western express highway - at peak hours.

out of town trips - full a.c - full load (mostly) and speeds that max at 120/130 - average of 12-13kmpl

hey all..

got these cars with these mileages:

All cars being run in City with AC on always.
1. Honda City 1.5 (model 2) : 10kmpl (if my dad drives) 8 kmpl(if i drive, i.e i drive it in the first 3 gears only )

2. Maruti ZEN: 10 kmpl
3. Hyunday GETZ GLS: 9 kmpl (its a new one, clocked only 4,000km till date)
4. Mahindra Scorpio DX: between 7 & 7.5 (belive me, i have been calculating the averages of my scorpio since the day i bought it 2 years back. every time i fill, i do a quick calculation, and its never been more than that, i do drive a bit fast and its revved more frequently.)

FLoyd, you city average while a bit low is normal for a matiz
I used to get 17-20 on the highway and abt 11-10 in the city with the ac on.
Actually i started by getting 13 and it dropped to 11 as the traffic increased like mad.
As its 800cc engine is finely tuned and it has a bit of weight, in the city you need to revv high to get going,m but on the highway, its a star
