Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Hi Guys,

Looks like today I hit a jackpot when I filled petrol from Nayara. I got Rs. 50 discount for Rs. 2000 of petrol.

I asked the pump operator to fill for 20 litres of petrol and 1 litre costs Rs. 100.09 at Nayara, which came to Rs. 2001.80. The operator entered Rs 1951.80 on the POS machine and I was shocked. Upon asking him he said Rs. 50 discount. So for me the petrol costed Rs. 97.59 per litre.

See below offer:

Petrol, diesel to get costlier as Karnataka hikes sales tax on fuel

Read more at: https://www.deccanherald.com/india/k...n-fuel-3068197

Hilarious move by Karnataka to take with one hand and subsidise with the other. Anyway, I am happy that this increase in fuel prices hurts everyone, rather than benefit a subset with subsidies.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

It was just a matter of time. The prices where the lowest here compared to the neighbouring states by around 7-8 Rs per litre.

In fact, I am surprised it took them so long to increase it and still it will less than Kerala, TN and AP. Looks like they were waiting for the Parliament elections.

Yes, in Hyderabad we are paying 107.X! This is so unfair for us. We had 109 since ages and had to settle for 107 before elections.

Where is the cheap Russian oil going?

The difference between the cheap Russian oil (not discounted anymore, I think) and the high retail price is going towards building infrastructure projects.

You are enjoying 100 per litre in Chennai. There are still 7 Rs per litre we are giving more for so called infrastructure. There should be a stricter range across India; why should we have world class infrastructure in Hyderabad only? Everyone should contribute equally!

Everyone is not contributing equally because fuel is outside the purview of GST. States are very adamant on this issue lest they lose their revenue. See what happens with BH registration. Inspite of higher (25%) tax many States have not implemented it including TN. God save us all.

Re: The Official Fuel Prices Thread

Quite a few people expected fuel prices to rise considerably in June, and it has decided to play along. What's surprising is that prices have gone north only in the south(read Karnataka) and not pan-India, a twist that few saw coming!

I expect members of this forum to know facts before posting. Please go though some earlier posts regarding the tax break up or use google to get the real picture about the taxation structure between states and the center. You will get to know what the central government is earning through fuel before you point towards the states for not letting go of revenue !

Fuel prices are already very high and if at all, there is every scope to reduce the prices further. But then, who cares about reducing when people are not complaining !
