The Maharashtra government has reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 5/litre and Rs 3/litre, respectively.

Fuel price varies vastly due to transportation cost and will be more on the hills. The distance is calculated from the point of filling of tankers to the delivery point. This is among the same fuel retailers not across the board as each fuel retailing company fixes its' rate based on their own procurement, refining, and transportation cost (does not apply on private retailers). Response from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on the price of crude, retail price of petrol/diesel in Delhi along with breakup based on the taxes collected by the Center & State (Delhi) and contribution to Central exchequer from the petroleum sector (past 5 years):
