It's always 'next month' by Mr. Murli Deora.

And the 'next month' never happens because by then something would have happened to increase oil prices.

btw an enterprising news channel had reported that the election commission had replied to Mr. Deora and UPA that they were under no such election code compulsion to retain old oil prices due to election contingency .. lol

In short they called his bluff and caught him by his collar .. yet he persists in this nonsense shows primarily the thick skins that these guys come with.

And the strength of the lobby backing this devious buffoon.

ATF is nothing but Kerosene. You will think twice before putting the ATF onto your car

I did some saving calculations for ,atest petrol and diesel cars. Its turns out favorable to the new diesel cars fitted with MJD engine, which also offer outstanding torque and mileage.

City mileage of
Swift 1.3 petrol - 12kmpl
Vista 1.3mjd engine - 15kmpl

Considering that anyone will drive 30km each day, its comes to 1000km per month. Diesel(40Rs/L) and petrol(55rs/L)
Swift - Vista = Savings
(1000/12 X55) - (1000/15 X40) = 1917 Rs
So, you will be saving approx 2000Rs for Vista every month. And for a period of 5 years you save 1,15000Rs.

Vista Auga and Swift vxi are equally priced. So you save a complete 1lakh
over a period of 5 years(EMI -Rs1917). Also, you can do the same calculations for any other petrol car which costs >4laks, and you will end up saving.

I wish the delay for Vista Aura is not there. Otherwise, God bless Tata for bringing back the competition in the market. Its gonna be a huge ***-kicking time for the big assed Swift.

Just heard from someone that Headlines Today said they are mulling a decrease of fuel prices in a couple of days---petrol by Rs 10 and diesel by Rs 3. Hope it is true.

Petrol price may be cut by Rs 10
December 04, 2008 16:02 IST With the assembly polls in major states concluding, the government may slash petrol price next week by Rs 10 a litre, diesel by Rs 3 per litre and domestic LPG by Rs 20 per cylinder in line with fall in global oil prices. "Polling in Rajasthan will end today and with it electioneering in four major states. And so a revision in fuel prices is likely to be taken to the Cabinet at its next meeting scheduled on December 11," a government source said. For the first time in three years, state-run Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum are selling petrol at a profit of Rs 14.89 a litre and diesel at Rs 3.03 per litre. But they continue to lose Rs 17.26 on sale of every litre of kerosene through public distribution system (PDS) and Rs 148.32 per 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder.

But please remember this is just temporary situation, Crude price might head back to 70$ in coming months.

So more time Government takes to decrease the prices less decrease they will do If crude price starts climbing. Petrol deservers 10/- cut and Diesel 3/- thats very much needed one.

Regards,

Ravi.

So the price diff is coming decreasing... Price of the Diesel Car also should now come down. May be there will be no advantage of a diesel car after a few years.

It is amazing to me how people clamour for a reduction citing the 70% decrease in the price of oil. The reality is that when oil zoomed from 60 to 150, we were protected with just a 5 rupee hike in the price of fuel. If you consider the rupee depreciation from the time that oil was last at 50-60, we actually have no case for a price decrease. Also remember that the oil cos are still bleeding due the under recoveries in kerosene and LPG.

I, for one, hope that they continue to be cautious. The simple fact is that we have no control over the oil prices and just as it has come down by 70% over the past 2 months, it could go back again to 100$ in no time. Would all the proponents of reduction agree to have the prices increased again?

I didn't think so.
