I think NO. They should have reduced 10/- on petrol. Maybe Mr. Deora wants to reduce the price is stages. Now 5 bucks then after 2 months another 5 bucks.
They are using the profits to sponsor the farmer subsidy. The govt takes the money from the rich, and votes from the poor, and doesnt give a **** about middle class.

This is intermediate decision before cabinet takes final call next week on actual price cut (Petrol should be reduced by at least 10/- and Diesel rate cut 2/- is enough). I feel they will reduce Petrol rates further next week If they keep sympathy on common man and don't decrease Diesel rate further.

But If Crude falls below 40$ then expect more rate cuts in Diesel too.

Regards,

Ravi.

PS I suggest If one really love the nation please use more Petrol cars rather than Diesel ones, Let Diesel cars for Taxy/Commercial/off roading use while Petrol for private use

I saw a news channel today . Seems LOA Group are not satisfied enough with the reduction in Diesel prices. They are demanding more cuts in Diesel Price (upto Rs.10). Else they are planning for a All India Strike from 20th . So the government will be under severe pressure to reduce some more.

In Bangalore, I always fill in at the IOC pump outside Manyata Tech park-Nagawara. The price was 56.88 while it was 57.17 at other city pumps before hikes. Something jurisdiction related. Petrol is 30 paise lesser than the city.

Can you kindly confirm this. its only the govt pumps that are liable to reduce the prices by Rs 5 and not the private ones like shell. Shell has already reduced the prices before the govt act into play.

would the 4% reduction in the CENVAT also bring the retail fuel price down?

A question here - is the price of premium fuels also regulated by the govt??? I don't see a 2 rs cut in the premium diesel here - it's more like 1.8 Rs cut...

A thought:

Now with the fuel prices being reduced, will we see fares for auto/taxis/buses etc being reduced also?
