Or atleast make the price, uniform in every state. Why should one pay 50 bucks in Delhi and 60 Bucks in Banglore?

Even with worldwide oil prices going from $140 a barrel to $50, India is
keeping internal prices at elevated levels. In one way it is good so OIL
companies can recover their past losses. On the other side, with economy
cooling down, companies will have to face dual pressures 1) demand
heading down 2) high local fuel costs
No fuel price cut till oil firms stabilise: PM

This really sucks - oil cos have been making losses & Petro Min has been feeding them Junk Oil Bonds.
I really do hope that Reliance and Essar do reopen their outlets which they had closed down due to high crude prices and give these govt sponsored companies a run for their money.

There is a ticker on NDTV that says oil companies to cut prices by 10% effective tomorrow! Does that mean petrol/diesel prices will be down by 5/3 rupees?

Thanked: Once

we mumbai guys pay methinks one of the highest price for petro products.
A small point :- kindly comment
the budget of the govt is based in some part on petro taxes collection. so at start of the financial year the target income for the year is taken into view while deciding the budget. now the funny part arises. taxes on petrol are based on sale price not onquantitive basis. so when crude prices rise so does the sales price and effectively so do the taxes on it. why cant our petro minister change the tax structure on petro products i.e. we pay tax per liter of petrol. in this way he can generate his target revenue and we poor people are spared the frequent rise in petro product prices.

I would think they will drop it just before elections to get max political
mileage. Anyway no opposition party is asking for it.
here in USA price for 87 has come down in 3 months from $4 per gallon to
$2.50 per gallon.
