Not a crazy number for a white board. It may be an office car belonging to the owner used to ferry staff or business related long distances on a daily basis or it may just be the beater car of a family that does long distance on a daily basis. There are also people who run their cars as taxi on a whiteboard to avoid the pains associated with a yellow board(Yearly tax, FC, money spent on permits at every state border, etc.,).

It could just be a yellow board converted to white board maybe because of its high running and for sentimental reason.

I know the actual registration of the car pictured and seeing that it is situated in a town that is about 50 kms (1 hour drive) away from another major town down south. I wouldn't be surprised if this car does that route twice or even thrice daily, given the smooth 6 lane roads between them.

The possibilities are endless but only the owner would know what he did to achieve such a high mileage.

Wow, that is some odometer reading. Your car seems to have had an average daily running of about 90 km over the last 12 years . Did you get any engine related work done? or Turbo work? How is the body holding up after so many kilometers? (mainly w.r.t rattles)

re: Highest reading on the odometer!

Thanks, chiranjitp, it was not the daily runs but the frequent highway runs made the car run so much, 90% of the time, car was used for long trips only. Because of the highway runs engine was running at optimum temperature and wear and tear must have been much less compare to city run. To answer your questions, I will have to say a lot of "touch wood"

Engine is bullet proof, no major work has been done other than timing belt changes. After 2lakh, I started changing oil at 5-8k mark along with all filters. Turbo is fine, but the ERG throws in issues once in a while, cleaning is not working anymore, ordered new ERG, waiting for it to reach. Body is solid, built to last, still running on original paint, other than bumpers, both have been painted once. Rattles is one area car really surprised me, again this could be because of the highway runs, roads are relatively good, car could take some abuse and still remain rattle free. Rattles started only recently that too only just before the turbo opens up and not always only when it's stressed, I am sure new EGR will fix that issue (TOUCH WOOD).

You can check the ownership review I posted

Thanks again

There are quite a lot of white board Innova which actually do taxi duty just to save some tax! This is common in smaller cities.

re: Highest reading on the odometer!

I sat in an Indica DLS cab yesterday which had covered 396k kms since 2011. The engine was stock and was still going strong. The exteriors and interiors of the car never showed its age and looked 1-1.5L kms old. The driver of the car was its owner and hence, seemed to maintain it properly. The suspension was stiff but not clunky and didn't make any sound. The handbrake light was shot on the instrument cluster. Every other light and electricals were working. It used to take a long crank to start but ran without issue; no misfires but smooth engine note. The car felt tight around corners and cruised smoothly at 100 kmph.

You should have just looked a page behind.

We have the ever dependent Toyota Innova that has clocked more than 900,000 Kms. Read more here (Highest reading on the odometer!).

By personal car (or even Taxi) standards, I don't recollect (unless someone can point me there) anything more than this for a car from India.

Pardon me for bringing up Commercial Vehicles here, but the highest odometer reading I've heard of in Team BHP is :

That was a Camper with a DI engine.

It was used for daily newspaper transport, with a daily run of 400 km.

I have read this thread few times earlier as well and if i am not mistaken i read somebody posting Mahindra bolero reading with 14 Lakhs, that's just insane

I might be wrong here as well. But I still think their might be someone with more reading in India. I guess it will be good idea to maintain some records on page 1 so that people will know about it. We can have multiple records like highest reading, highest reading in less time, car range wise like small car or sedan or suv etc.

@mods - Please think over it, will be nice info for all.

Just touched the figure of 1,66,000 km last night on my 2005 Honda city i-Dsi.

My 2011 Aria is also just shy of the 1.5 lakh km . That has seen comparatively higher running.
