Exactly the same here: only it is not restricted to the good wife! My colleagues, my friends, my distant cousin (on the way back to the airport) on one of his 5 yearly visits...and many others have been through this.

On the other hand, I know some people who own "rattle free" cars. To my great surprise, rattle free for them, is more like "acceptable, minor, inconsequential noises from some hard to identify places". Which exactly is my cause of irritation, and, contrary to statements by many Punto owners, I term my Punto as fairly rattly! Gremlins really: you fix one, and another appears soonafter, with no clue as to what could be the potential cause!

Sticking to the topic: my boss has a Fiesta classic, from 2007, SXI diesel. It doesn't rattle a bit, has run 147000, and visits remote HP villages twice a month. Meticulously maintained.

Toyota Corolla, 2005, 63000 kms. Not even a single rattle. Driven in Jaipur 99% of the times. No mechanical problems either.
Bullet proof reliability at its best!!

Re: Which car does NOT RATTLE?

My Tata Indigo LS has driven around 67000 kms, daily go to office in electronics city from my home via "Harlur Road" which has 50 speed breakers one way (not exaggerating!). I have been doing this for past 4-5 years.
No rattles!
The only rattle I got from suspension was because of broken suspension, and it had to be replaced.

This doesn't mean I like my car so much, I am not at all happy with NVH levels of my car. Any tips from you folks to improve noise/vibrations of Tata Indigo TDI engine are most welcome.

I don't trash the car over potholes, the roads are in very bad shape following the monsoon here. I need to be wary about the Michelin as well. But I don't baby the car over rough patches either. The long travel of the suspension and the pliant ride helps.

Well advised. A few simple precautions to a rattle free existence:
a) Empathize with the car's mechanicals when driving it
b) Get those minor damages repaired on time.
c) Choose longer but good roads over that poorly maintained short cut.
d) Tie down loose objects in the car
e) Inspect the car thoroughly every year for broken fasteners, tired bushes etc. and replace them.

Re: Which car does NOT RATTLE?

From my experience, ladder on frame SUV's don't rattle if maintained. I have found this to be true for the Safari, Scorpio & Pajero. Yes, with close to 50K on the odo, the Yeti is yet to rattle, a slight squeak might be heard on very bad roads, but that is it.

Re: Which car does NOT RATTLE?

I don't know if Mahindra Scorpio find mention in this thread, but my 2005 CRDE model with 320,000km is absolutely zero rattle from the body. However, I do have intermittent noise from the suspension when traversing concrete roads or small undulations. Also, something from the Dash performs a synchronised duet with the engine at a particular band of RPM.

Compared to the Scorpio, our 2006 /150,000km Honda City rattles from all the doors and the suspension generates a dhak dhak sound even on a small porthole.

The other cars with are us less than 2 years old and have remained rattles proof till now.

Re: Which car does NOT RATTLE?

My Santro Xing GL has covered 46k kms. I have maintained the car well by giving it to service on time and driving carefully on bad roads. Except for very minor noise from the dashboard, no issues with my car.

All new vehicles will be rattle free at the time of purchase. With age catching up with the vehicle, depending on how you maintain the car, rattling noise will slowly start.

Re: Which car does NOT RATTLE?

My 2012 polo run 31000 km has rattles from the rear parcel tray, I replaced it with a wooden one with heatlon at the bottom, and mounted new JBL speakers there.

I get a occasional thud from the front bumper when going over potholes at speed.

Re: Which car does NOT RATTLE?

Voted for ANHC(since it was the closest option),although I own a Honda City ZX VTEC 2006. No rattles at all even after clocking over 100k KMS.

^^ Same here. I too have a Honda City ZX VTEC 2005, done about 70k KMS with no rattles whatsoever. The occasional sounds I get are from the CNG kit installed in the boot. I think I might have to tighten the screws a little bit.
