6.99 starting - wow!
Also - is the AT box a DSG one? (thus commanding the 1 lakh premium?)

I am hooked to this thread.

Killer pricing, now HONDA will have to rework their gameplan.

thanks a lot VW for the very good news.

now please open more dealers around india and its time to pull up your socks to clear the back log of Polo and we all hope no back log for Vento!

please dont give the excuse of 15000km interval for service! the vw dealer in noida has shut shop and left the noidawasi high and dry. nearest in in South Ex!!

OT:
Polo (the mint with the hole)
Vento(Mentos) (Dimaag ki batti jala dey)

VW got good solid winners on their hands, lets see how VW performs when it comes to A.S.S!

Stunning pricing. I would love to see the faces of Honda executives now and it was about time for someone to tell Honda where they belong. They have had it too easy until now. The petrol comes with a full blown 6-speed DSG transmission while the diesel will be a rocket!

In my humble opinion, it is a little too early to be so ecstatic about the car. The pricing is good, but if you look at it closely, other than the City all the rest are priced lower.

Also, the 6.99 lakh equates to a 8 lakh rupee price tag in Bangalore for the base version. Competitive, but nothing to go gaga about, atleast wait till the test drive reports are out (the 1.6 churns out 100 odd horses for what should be a solidly built, hence heftier car).

Let's wait for the test-drive report.

w00t!

Waiting eagerly for a test drive. Killer pricing, hope they keep the same/better interiors as the Polo.

Good stuff!

ANHC sells well in this segment because the rest of the competition lacks the kind of brand value/snob value which Honda has. But, with VW coming into picture Honda loses that advantage.

The trendline model doesn't seem to have AIR bags, ABS or even a Mp3 CD player :(
The highline model is 1.25 L more expensive! So I guess the pricing is NOT all that great. Especially when I compare the City SMT (which has ABS, Airbags, and CD player) with Vento.

I was almost on the brink of buying a City SMT, but now thinking of the diesel Vento.
Does anyone know whether Vento 1.6 Diesel would be anywhere close to the powerful ANHC in terms of performance? TIA.

This is indeed superb pricing!
IIRC, the Vento is bigger, more powerful, and has better interiors than the Polo.
Will definitely blow the competition away.
Rs. 70K difference from the Verna and Linea, for better interiors and a hopefully more powerful diesel engine, and in the case of the Verna - better safety features too. Sounds superb!

A replacement for the fiesta maybe? Hmmm.. Looking at these prices, maybe if we book now, we could get delivery by the time the Fiesta is due for a replacement.

Eagerly awaiting your TD.

As it is not just a sedan version of Polo, it has longer wheelbase and boot is integrated very well and looks very balanced and 1.6 liter engine is an advantage. overall the prices seems to be justified. I hope Vento will be loaded with better feature.

@GTO: No doubt, your reviews are the best among any other website and magazines. But this time please post performance report as well for the Vento in your review, push Vento very hard like a rally car and rally type remote roads and tell us the output, will be interesting.

Trendline---killer pricing
Comfortline---good pricing

VW really wants to show that its a folks-wagon.

BTW, what else is offered on the Highline trim compared to the Polo. Only thing I see is the Auto Climate Control. Leather ?? ESP ???
