ARAI mileage figures

As per VW Secunderabad dealer, the following are the mileage figures for Vento

1. Petrol manual- 15.6 kmpl
2. Petrol automatic- 14.5 kmpl
3. Diesel manual- 20.5 kmpl

All figures are respectable. hmmm.

The diesel figures look great!

A car offering good performance along with excellent mileage will make for a great buy.

By the way, any idea what sort of a figure are we looking at for weight here?

Pricing on the expected lines - it is not fair to compare the Vento trendline with the City base version as the City comes with ABS and Airbags.
Also, I feel the engine of the city is much better than the Vento's (petrol).
The city I feel will have more space and more boot space and better mileage
The city top end costs 60-70K more than the Vento...I think it's fair competition.
Expect Honda to react by offering some discounts like free insurance etc..

The diesel might be a killer offering which will not only impact the Verna/Linea/Fiesta diesels but also the ANHC!

Excellent pricing. And VW has gauged the Indian consumer mindset perfectly. A reliable sub 10L sedan which can be associated with a premium brand.

They have done the BATA move by announcing the price at 6.99L which sounds cheaper than 7L. For anyone reading it, the first impression is that it is affordable.

The Vento effect has already started showing on HONDA, I just received an SMS from a Honda Dealer in Noida, giving Rs. 15000 discount on the City.....

We welcome the competition and I guess Vento would give the true fight to the City.

I agree with Aseem about exclusivity.
The price gap is huge from lower to higher end and so are the features. I am interested in the higher diesel version and hope it will have a very good diesel engine.

Great pricing but initial euphoria lasts only around 6 months. Then the news spreads on issues in sourcing parts, unfriendly service staff, limited number of service centers & 6 month long waiting period. So buy a Honda as long as its doling out discounts. Tomorrow is an altogether new day! I pray for us consumers that its not so if Vento is truly a deserving product.

This opens the market for mid segment purcahsers adding value to Brand. Driving in a VW is in a different league to that of a Maruti??

That's a killer pricing, better VW expands their dealership in as many cities possible (like ford) ASAP to meet the Vento and growing Polo demand.

Not only Linea, SX4, Verna and City even Dezire/Manza customers also consider Vento by streatching their budget.

All the best VW, you know the game!

As has been repeatedly said on the forum Price for Trendline seems fantastic. However the mutually exclusive and a very limited color choice leaves one asking for more.

GTO,
Cmon, lot of people are waiting for your review dude.

Aseem, I dont think Honda commands any exclusivity over VW..on the contrary European built cars usually command a premium over Japs and nothing so far suggests that Vento will lose out on space, engineering, engine compared to ANHC.

Good entry level pricing, but I am not quite happy to see the pricing of AT version, sure its cheaper than Honda, but feel its quite high if I compare with Verna diesel.

When are the deliveries starting ?

Great work Sid!
Now the pricing part is over, eagerly waiting for the detailed review of GTO.

As VW is struggling to meet the demnad for Polo, it will be interesting how they will cope with market demand for Vento, specially for the Diesel one.
