OMG!
Anyone checked out the diesel engine specs?
106bhp, and a killer torque at such low rpm

I can predict the successful image this car will hold (like Skoda Octavia held the last decade)

Oh crap!

250 NM of torque right from below 1500 rpm!!!

Good lord.

PS: Under-tired for the TL!

Just a small query: Is the 1.6 petrol a re-tuned 1.6 from the Jetta?

This is my new favorite diesel sedan, lets see how it feels to drive, hope it feels good on that too.
I am simply in love with the classic sedan design, one that wont age rapidly. Anyone tempted to stick an audi A3 sedan badge at the rear?

Its not a discount- its a loyalty bonus. BTW corp discount has been around for a while.
I am literally amused to see so many folks predict doom for honda etc, wondering if anyone is really considering buying a vento amongst them or just spectators who are speculating
Nothing against expressing an opinion, but better to wait than jump the gun and start saying things like city is bye bye, gone case etc etc.
Better to compare in total and just not jump at the mere price and say vento is a better buy. Diesel option will surely hit some other offerings, that is almost certain, not sure about the petrol. Honda= reliability for years and the same has to set into the mindset before VW can make major inroads, i am happy to see the consumer get more choices and wish the sales and support(service) of other folks improves seeing the competition more than ANYTHING else.

One post from GTO and 10 pages of replies. It definitely has created a lot of interest in this forum. Bring on the test drive GTO - does that match the aggressive pricing?

proves 2 things
1. How eager we are for a decent sedan offering and how hot VW is( wonder what will be the response to the Etios when it comes out!)
2. How envious people are of Honda

I dont know where Honda is run for cover now. ANHC was its only cover and knight in the shining armour. SX4,fiesta, Linea and Verna were always there but none of them commanded the social status that a Honda did. Now Honda has a competitor who is from more or less a socially upper end brand. The ANHC sales will be affected but how much and for how long is something which only time will tell.

As far as the product is concerned I was really expecting even the basic vento to come wtleast with ABS, Im a bit disappointed due to this. 105 horses a good amount of torque but not even ABS on the basic model. The pricing is very competitive though. It seems that OTR pricing in mumbai for the trendline will be just below 8 lakhs which really very tempting.

Honda although they don't care much about diesels,They make excellent petrol engines.
The FE and Performance is top of the class.
The Base Variant is the one which will Turn tables for the vento.
I see a reduction of 500-1k units from the already constant 3k units of the city.
Butt can VW handle all the excess orders or will they go The Fortuner way.

A/S/S is also what people look for which and maintained costs which Honda clearly leads in.
To me it is a Stalemate with a slight favor towards the Honda.
