In early Sep 06, prior to Verna, I had gone to Hyundai for a Santro. At that time, the Accent had vibes of soon to be phased out car. But one year later when Verna started to go down, Hyundai revived the Accent so as to keep the buyer with Hyundai. So more Accent advertising and lesser prices mean what= they want to sell Accent, sell Verna, or sell anything even if it is an Accent.

Is recent promotion and sales of Accent coincidental with Verna decline, or a consequence of that.

Simple, most NHC are bought by practical people for whom the car is nothing but an meansfor travelling from A to B at the lowest cost. They're hardly likely to even visit a site like team-bhp, much less post a review here.

Unfortunately I did not opt for extended warranty. I am not sure whether it is a common problem in NHC or mine is a special case. Service technician told that EPS may fail if we drive rashly on bad roads.

Do you work for Overdrive, that mileage seems really unbelievable.

Any idea how Fabia is doing? Would be interesting to see if folks are willing to pay a premium to buy a European "Super Hatch"

Cheers

Not really. I picked up a 3 year old Getz with 17400 on the odo. Infact, I came across a lot of used cars (Getz, Santro, Swift, Accord etc) with less than 20k on the odo and more than 2-3 years old.

Selling more than Fusion is not much of an achievement.

I agree somewhat. Fabia is also selling because of the Indian consumer 's enthusiasm for latest cars and mindset that they of having acquired the latest model as soon as it has been launched. The sales figures will surely go down or at least stabilize in the coming months as soon as reports start coming in and rationalization occurs. Many new cars sold high units in the initial months due to media hype, clever marketing and the need to acquire it first.

I have not seen many of them in Bangalore - I guess the high end model in Bangalore will end up being costlier than City / SX4 and the likes. Unlike the Octavia, customers have too many choices at this price point.

Cheers,
