The trailers seems really entertaining! I really hope it can match all the pent-up excitement given how delayed this episode has been!

When they were doing those used car challenges back at TG, I never thought that they would one day be offroading in a used Continental GT and a Focus RS on TRACKS

Can't wait for it. I just asked myself 2 days back why the next episode is not coming out and here it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if I see them off-roading in a Lamborghini either. They always go out of the box. Plus, they seem to be making use of their unlimited cash reserve.

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

I didn't like the new episode of Grand Tour. Most underwhelming episode of Grand tour series
It started off great with the three cars, but the Madagascar bit was too long and was nothing about cars.

I was feeling sad for the torture the cars had to endure on those "Roads"

Expected better. Would rate it 3/10.

Exactly!

Of all the specials they have done till now (Top Gear + Grand Tour), this would be the most disappointing episode. I would rate this even below the Indian Special show.

After a long wait, I actually had high expectations because of their total switch to "specials only" and was expecting another Mongolia special or the African Special or at least the Australian special. Not worth the wait.

I haven't watched the latest episode, but after watching the earlier boats episode, my excitement isn't really where it used to be. Will try and catch up over the weekend.

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

Somehow the choice of cars made me skip large parts of the episode. They took brand new exotic cars to one of the poorest countries of the world and modified them tastelessly. They could have tried what they did in the earlier Africa specials- using old EU cars that are cheap and modify them to extinction.

Somehow this episode lacks a coherent story as well. The director of the show needs to understand that this is not a drama movie and the cast of the show are not dramatists. The acting looks quite forced. Somehow I feel bad for this because this might just be the end of the trio and it is not a glorious end.

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

I don’t know about others, but I enjoyed it a lot. Really enjoyed seeing how the big Bentley and the 2 wheel drive caterham taking all that punishment and soldiering on. Two very different recipes for the same objective. Hammond played his usual Tasmanian devil character, fun but a bit over the top. As for the show itself, I have stopped expecting the trio to put out full on nerdy in depth car reviews and accepted the fact that this they have become a travel show. Once you do that and stop expecting things that won’t happen it’s a much more enjoyable experience.

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

I agree with the general view here that the storytelling is not as tight as it used to be. Or maybe we are now slightly fatigued of the same approach and similar "incidents" during a trip.

I agree,I think there are enough "serious" car reviews now on YouTube which are objective and entertaining. However as a car-travel show, I guess it may be worthwhile if they add a bit of culture in their trip. After all they used to do that in Jeremy Clarkson Motorworld or James May's Our Man in Japan. I believe if they mix a bit of that, it may be a more interesting watch.

Funny enough, the past 2-3 series of Top Gear has been pretty engaging. I dont fall asleep unlike the last few episodes of TGT

I watched it last night, it was a bore, ended up catching up on teamBHP instead. Ending was so underwhelming

No one minds it being a travel show. They got that pat in various specials as was the case earlier. The Columbian special, Africa special, as well as Mongolia come to mind, straightaway. Issue now is, they seem to have lost the plot on what appeals.
