Man, that sounds absolutely amazing! Especially that *hiss* when you lift your foot. Great job on it.

Do you have any more performance mods planned for the car? And does this have any issues with warranties as far as BMW is concerned?

My car is out of warranty period (2 years) and also not under BSI as did not feel it was necessary as running is pretty low.

Thanks.

The car is not under warranty now as it has crossed 2 years & also no BSI.

Regarding more mods, well yes as this car has the potential to achieve 300 whp easily

BUT, Next set of mods after few months now.

A drag race with GTO's 530d and your modded 328i would be quite interesting. He said he was getting one for about 30. The 328i has almost all the goodies of the 530d otherwise, but the 5 build / material quality is far superior to the 3.

Curious: What would the timings be of a 328i and a 530D between 80-120, 100-140, 140-200.

Get the Launch Control coding done then!
I had seen 328i's having launch control on YouTube videos.

Don't have that data with me, but i believe for the above speeds the 530d will be faster thanks to the extra Torque.

Nope, It (530d) wont be faster. I know the answer to that and so do you.

Our expressway stint from panvel to khopoli remember ? The extra mad one enroute amby earlier this year on a DDT drive ? I need not mention the speeds we were doing you know it as well as i do & i was in the meat of my torque band. There was a lot of traffic through which we needed to make our way but as soon as we hit open patches i expected to close the gap and even overtake but guess what....the gap remained constant. NO CHANGE.

We even had a discussion about this at breakfast and i was surprised how 350nm (right?) managed to do that. Reckon the lighter weight visavis my car and 2 extra gear ratios might have helped. Point is , the 530d is more or less identical to my car in performance and i expect the scenario would have been the same as the other day....stalemate. You dont give your car's performance enough credit bro

I think GTO's 530d has the 8 speed ZF too. Yes the lighter weight sure would help. That is why I think that after Karan's mods only probably the 328i might just be a match for the 530d.

Oh yes off course i do remember that sprint, was amazed myself to see you couldn't fill the gap

True, when it comes to torque numbers the A4 3L TDI & 530d are similar, but the same amount of torque (infact 530d is having more torque than your car i.e. 560 NM) coupled with 8 spd ZF might be slightly faster in those 80-120, 100 - 140 etc sprints.

When i mentioned 2 extra ratios i meant compared to my car, not the 530d.

We have a 530d with updated power & torque figures in our regular driving circle. It was a match for the 530d before the mods. This thing cuts out a lot of flab from the 5 and has a decent bottom end from the way it darts.

Now post mods its very likely that it will be as quick on standard fuel and properly quicker than the 5 with 97. The 328i 0-100 figures on high octane fuel are marginally quicker than the 530d (excluding the latest update).

Oh its always had more torque. Even before the facelift it had 540nm.

But its substantially bigger & heavier than my car too being a class above and in the initial revs the added traction helps me, but yes with the updated figures of the 5 and more torque it could be slightly quicker....until i get my mods into play that is...

Unfortunately i cant use the highest setting thanks to the rev limiter.

Yes indeed the black grille has seriously transformed the front looks. Now wondering whether or not to smoke the whiskers black.

Next set of upgrades will happen but nothing immediate

Thanks, yes the car sounds really nice with the addition of this intake, on the flip-side i am not able to hear the exhaust so much now thanks to the LOUD hissing of the filter.
