re: Got my Fiat Palio Stile 1.6. EDIT : 58k done

Just an update (more an ownership reference for myself) , about 49k kms done, few things replaced like the switch on the pedals that activate the rear brake lights, fog light which was broken was replaced for about 1.7k and got the car damped to reduce rattles

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/chenna...ml#post2256562

Only trouble so far was the power steering hose came loose one day and dumped the entire contents of the power steering fluid container on the floor. The mechanic hooked it back saying it might have worked itself loose due to vibrations and seems to be ok now. Its been about 1000kms since with no issues (fingers x'd)

today got the oil changed after 17000 kms run , oil still looked semi-ok but the seal on the oil filter was getting weak I guess since there were oil stains all over it. Filled 0W-40 this time since that was the only one in stock at service center (Ignite Garage)
Car has completed 50k (and also coming close to its 4th birthday mid May), did a random check on various fluid levels before a trip to Pondichery to find engine oil had dipped below min cursed myself for being lax. Got a litre of 0W-40 Mobil synth and poured it in and it went back to max.

I was planning to change the oil soon since its been 13k and about 11 months since the oil change but did the top up since I had a trip and didnt want to delay it nor did I want to end up with a seized engine.

Thanks for the update. I wonder where all the 1.6 lovers went. Hardly find much updates. I still miss the fabulous engine.

Thanks, I guess all of us are still lurking around here somewhere. I lost the front left plastic cladding around the front right fog light. Managed to find a replacement one at Concorde. Cost Rs.990/-

Got my Fiat Palio Stile 1.6. EDIT : 58k done-20110430-16.23.11-large.jpg

To sign off, an interesting mileage figure on the odo

re: Got my Fiat Palio Stile 1.6. EDIT : 58k done

@bottle, Congrats on the 50K milestone - quite some running for 4 years (I've done only 48K in 6 years). Especially since you have another Palio.

Is it 1000bucks for that plastic over/around the fog-lamps ? Or is it for a pair ?

Thats a bit high IMO. I paid 400 bucks for the same cladding a couple of years back for my 1.6.

Incidentally mine was also the front left foglamp cladding....disappeared after I hit a largish stone while driving down a ramp

Yeah, for some reason I noticed this here, the prices are not standard across the various TASS. Even last time when I broke the ORVM mirror, I was charged 900 but another friend with a Linea got it for Rs.40, yes 40 and someone else posted that he got it for 500 or so.

If we say anything, all they say is , this is our inventory price, take it or leave it.

One way to get it cheaper is to do it during service, for some reason we get charged a lot less compared to directly buying from spares

Yup, still running on them, still lots and lots of grip, did a drive to Pondicherry and is very nice over the curves on ECR.

I have to say a must have upgrade for 1.6 drivers not for cornering benefits but a huge huge improvement in braking area.

Other than that not much to report, mechanically car seems to be working pretty much the same over the last 20k kms. hope it stays that way (fingers crossed) Only niggle is some bad paintwork at TASS, which I would need to re-do

53K Kms, (yeah not much running since I broke my ankle in May)

Got some work done on car, Brake pads went bust after a MMST track day and ended up scoring the disc rotors. Got them both replaced today. Also completed the long overdue oil change after about 13k kms and 15 months since the last one.

Charges

Oil - 4.2k Approx
Disc Rotors - 2k
Brake Pads - 1.3k
Air Filter - 300
Oil Filter - 300
Labour - 800

Got the Parts from SM Auto Parts , a Fiat OE dealer and got the oil + rest of work done at Ignite Garage
