Thanks dude.

Checked FE after the trip first time yesterday after about 500 kms and an intermediate 15 litre refill. Comes to 15 odd kmpl. Pretty cool

@Nimz,

My car has done 1200KM. 1st reassurance checkup was done at 1130KM.
I had many issues with spark like
Powerdrop with AC was more as compared to TD car. This was sorted out.

Gearshift and clutch became hard when vehicle is run for 25KM +.
This issue is not completely solved as i can see gearshift is still notchy and hard.

After 600KM engine become noisy and rough. Yet to check this issue is solved or not.
Im getting an FE of 11.5 to 12.5 with 25% AC usage in city.
Im expecting FE to increase to 13+ since runin period is almost over.

Guys am using Shell Super in my sparky. I used Shell Unleaded till 500KM and then changed to super.
After filling with super, i can see engine is a bit more noisy. No noticeable increase in power.

I think am shelling out more money as shell has increased price of super to Rs 53.45 per ltr in Bangalore. In long run it may keep all filters & engine clean but i dont know whether to continue with super or change to normal unleaded. What do u guys suggest?
Everytime i visit a fuel pump, i tell fuel pump guys to tank full.

djay99 : Proceed with using shell normal petrol. I dont think there is a need for Shell Super.

It is always better to fill unleaded during the runin period and I feed only Shell unleaded for Sparky dearest.

Tank full is ok.. thats what I do to..

@djay - Mileage is acceptable. But your oither issues beats me. May be once when we meet we can check it out.. maybe am blinded by love

Once the super is burnt completely, i will fill with normal unleaded.

If you notice thoroughly, u will feel the clutch and gear shift becoming hard once engine is run for 25KM+. I know a service guy in sundaram and he said such things are common during runin period. He has worked on the car to solve problems but i can see small issues.

Also observe that you will have to push the brake pedal hard if u want to stop the car suddenly. You wont see such stuff in modern cars including old santro.

We will meet one day along with other sparky owners. It would be really nice to share experience abt driving and handling sparky
What do other sparky owners say?

DJ agree with you about the engine noise and sudden lack of power. I have experienced that a few times but have been unable to pin point exactly when it happens. Had taken the car to Garuda service but was unable to reproduce the problem there. This lasts for a little while and then goes away on its own.

Could there be a inherent problem?

The first time this happened (power loss) was after my first long drive of 300 Kms.

We can definitely meet guys.. How about lunch on a Sunday? Maybe the Chennai Spark guys can join us as well?

I can see this loss of power on uneven roads that to when u r doing 25-30 in 3rd gear, 30-40 in 4th. Once u surpass 50kmph in 3rd u will see surge in power coz of peak torque.
But pressing brake pedal hard is a pain if u r travelling in congested city traffic. This reminds me of Tata indica's clutch (Diesel)

Lets meet for lunch. That would be a nice idea.
What do others say?

Am game.. Kedar - Pune Sparky owner was here last Sunday. Should we move this discussion to the Meets section on the forum?? Starting a relevant thread there lest the mods throw us out.

Use this thread to discuss the Sparky meet

Hi,

Spark owners seem to be really enjoying the car.

My querry ... Spark owners in Mumbai who drive in city ... let me know what mileage Spark gives in city?
I have read the entire thread and feel that Mumbai mileage is most poor for most cars and should be known.
Cannot expect 14-14.5 as indicated by other city users.

info and views please

cheers!

Mumbai is big city. I dont know what road you take. And it also depends on your driving style. But average is about 13-13.5 for most Spark owners. I think Bangalore is no better than Mumbai.

Yeah agree with that, infact it could be worse. I drive 45 kms daily, 40% of it through very heavy stop and go traffic. I get about 12-12.5 with AC on and I have done about 3200 kms. Mileage will improve to 13-13.5 after the first service (at least thats what GM guys say). You can definitely expect this much.

OT question, are you planning to buy the Spark?
