Well, the leak could be very minute and maybe its visible only under pressure when the engine is running. Let the service station diagnose it.
Neither do I mate. Imagine I told them to check my temp sensor as the temp readings seem to be intermittent, I mean the temp gauge shows correct readings when AC is on but in non AC mode the temp readings do not register. They replaced my fan saying that it was broken. It costed me 8000 and problem is still there. I got the fan checked outside and it works just fine. So I am not sure I can trust TASS.

Re: Tata Indigo Marina Dicor LX. EDIT: Now completed 80,000 kms

Hi wanderernomad, wanted to update you that last Friday I traded in my Marina to acquire a Mercedes B-Class which was the only car I could find fit to replace the Marina. She had served me well. The dealer while he maintained the anonymity of the buyer assured me it is being bought by a family man for his personal use and he was a reasonable chap. The good and bad news is the car is to be seen in the Koramangala area so I may end up seeing her often. Hope I don't regret having let her go - didn't have the place for a 3rd car :(

Pics of the send off of the Marina and the welcome of my B180.

Wow! From an Indigo Marina to a B-Class, that's quite an upgrade. Having said that, you're right. After seeing the cars in a single post, it is easy to infer their similarities in terms of space offered and practicality. Wishing you many years and thousands of happy miles in the new Merc.

Thanks arvi86. It was a tough and highly emotionally loaded decision for this move. I will probably post my ownership report in a thread related to the b-class, of course I will share my views here as well .

Wow, super upgrade mate. Wish you lots of fun and happy driving times ahead. How much did the marina fetch?

Re: Tata Indigo Marina Dicor LX. EDIT: Now completed 80,000 kms

Thanks wanderernomad. With 1.28lakh kms on its ODO and few weeks before it crossed 8 years in service I got 1.2Lakhs. The person who evaluated the car was amazed by the condition of the engine - not a bit of back pressure it seems which he usually sees in cars having cross 1 lakh kms. No soot from exhaust and no smell typical of any old diesel engine.

Re: Tata Indigo Marina Dicor LX. EDIT: Now completed 80,000 kms

Congrats on your upgrade to B Class. And may the pleasant memories of Marina may live long!! After my Maruti 800 I changed to Marina, Fiat Linea and now Jetta. But if I ask my sons, they still like my gone for good 800 because of the childhood memories and the fact that even our dog (now RIP) loved the 800. That fellow, when I open the door of 800 will barge in, sit on driver seat and give a "I m the boss" look. Miss the car and miss the dog.

Hope to see your reviews in other forums.

That's a big one. Congrats.

I'm surprised you have gone above the usual contenders like Ertiga and Innova all the way upto the B.

Neither of them gave me automatic transmission and curtain airbags. I wanted to avoid the guilt of a fuel guzzler SUV. So came The B class which gave me all I needed and more! When I crunched the numbers it kind of worked out and here I am!

Re: Tata Indigo Marina Dicor LX. EDIT: Now completed 80,000 kms

The car is due for the 90000 km service with the odo now at almost 92000 kms. Recently the car made a long hard drive to Tawang and crossed Sela and drove in snow, slush and high altitude sub zero temperatures. Now am facing a peculiar situation, in fact it started on the descent from Selah on the return journey. The stick will refuse to shift to 1 and 2 gears. All others slot perfectly. However, if I move the stick with force to and fro horizontally a few times, the gears fall in slot. However, at times the throw feels less than normal though the gears slot ok.
What could be the issue?

Your Indigo Marina is 2007 model, which is about the same as mine (now sold off). I had similar problem. Shifting to 1st was ok but it will not shift to second. Instead I had to go to third. This was after doing about 40000 km in mid 2009. Used to be a pain while driving in ghat sections.
I showed it to Concorde Chennai. The problem was with the set of shifter rings in the gear box (not a major issue, but the gear box has to be lowered). The cost quoted was some less than Rs 500 for spares and about Rs 3000 for labour. By then, for different reasons, I purchased a Fiat Linea and sold off the Marina to a friend who was with Concorde. Later he told me that, he got it repaired with the help of a mechanic in Concorde over the week end, at home! The cost of repair? Rs 500/- (spares + labour) !!

It could be the clutch plate or the synchro mesh thing. Try shifting where rpm is near to idle. If it still is a problem it could be a sign of clutch wearing out. You may ask why other gears work, they are set to shift at higher rpms and it would be fine.

But that would make it difficult to put in gear every time not selectively, right? And the rapid to and fro motion of the gear shift stick helps. Is it really helping or its just a placebo? Still will get it checked, getting no time due to jeep nearing finishing stages.
