Really? Where did you see that - for Aveo? I checked the list today and it shows as 4500/-

Am I better getting it done "outside"?

Seeing many Aveos on road these days in Bangalore. Vijai motor says Kingfisher booked 50 blazing red Aveos from them as the color matched the corporate color. Saw two of them already on road in last 1 week.

Buying experience so far

Aveo 1.4 LS LE from National Garage, Andheri, Mumbai:
  • Started looking at the Aveo and UVA over an year back
  • Tried to sign up for test drives several times but they never used to call us back even though we live a couple of kms down the road
  • Finally the test drives did happen nearly a month after we first contacted them - already we had lost a bit of interest in them having to chase them around
  • But the sales guy giving the test drive Ganesh was smooth and cordial
  • Wife rejected the UVA due to smaller boot space
  • We both rejected the Aveo due to the "leg hitting dashboard" problem back then
  • The new Aveo this was resolved in the new Aveo since Dec 2007
  • Nice lady called Sonia there who's the sales manager - is direct, straightforward

Buying experience so far

Hit the enter button on the previous post too early, so updated:
  • Started looking at the Aveo and UVA over an year back
  • Tried to sign up for test drives several times with National Garage Andheri but they never used to call us back even though we live a couple of kms down the road
  • Finally the test drives did happen nearly a month after we first contacted them - already we had lost a bit of interest in them having to chase them around
  • But the sales guy giving the test drive Ganesh was smooth and cordial
  • Wife rejected the UVA due to smaller boot space
  • We both rejected the Aveo due to the "leg hitting dashboard" problem back then
  • On the new Aveo this was resolved in the new Aveo since Dec 2007
  • Read up in Feb 2008 that the Aveo had been upgraded
  • Again chased National Garage Andheri for test drives to no avail
  • Contacted Ashtavinayak who gave test drive in April 2008, this time promptly, very knowledgeable and courteous
  • They gave us very good pricing including discounts up front
  • Went back to National Garage Andheri - mainly because they live down the road and we would rely on them for service and emergencies
  • Chose the Aveo 1.4 LS LE Ivory Gold
  • Negotiated with the same price as that given by Asthtavinayak - Rs. 22000 discount, Rs. 7.38 lakhs OTR including 3 year warranty/maintenance plan
  • Paid first installment of Rs. 1 lakh on 13th May
  • Gave remaining cheque on 21st - at their request since car was allocated
  • Car arrived at showroom yesterday - 23rd May, went there - they say cannot deliver since cheque was not cleared even though I gave proof of clearance from my bank!
  • Next they promised Sunday - 25th delivery with TC since we dont buy new things on Saturday
  • This morning again got a call saying Sunday is not possible, but will be done Monday with license plate
  • Will go to do the PDI today
Hopefully the rest of the experience is more "smooth" :| at least as smooth as the car itself!

First look

Did a PDI of the car today - still on TC - basic observations:
  • Car had been driven from the National Garage Panvel yard to the Andheri showroom and had 85 kms on the ODO
  • Rear door had problems getting shut - this he will fix
  • Checked the engine - manufacturing date is mentioned as F8 - assumed to be either first quarter 2008 or February 2008
The TBHP checklist says should be less than 50 kms - Panvel yard to Andheri is about 55 kms. Is this a done thing and is 89 kms objectionable?

Seems this is a genuine problem. I had same thing. But was little ok after the first service. Still not as good as the front doors.

nice pitcures. I liked the pic of the headlamps. Cool... Please do post once the accessories are done.
