It's a Ford accessory. Has the usual markings (of the casting) with a Ford logo on the inner side. Ford peti-pack too.

Painting by the dealer would have cost me about 2k more.

@2theMax, the stock head-lights look goood. The upgrade to 90/100 was a thought, but I have dropped the idea now.

Suggest you adjust the head-lamp level & try.

This car have adjustable headlight lever inside the cabin (Dashboard) or in the headlight assembly (inside bonnet)?

The adjustment for the headlight is present on the dashboard towards the lower side of the steering column.

Gear-Speed RPM figures & some FE stats.

@Hrishi, here it is :

Duratorq-in' with Josh: Ford Ikon TDCi * 4 years 7 months/43,941 km & Letting Go :(-ikon-gearspeed-rpms.jpg

Was able to clock the RPM's finally, on the drive to KGF yesterday wih Sajan. The tacho readings are very close, not perfectly read - since they are read off the tacho while driving.

Some FE figures:
295 km : split as :
approx 180 km highway (not all good surfaces) - 100% a/c
about 110 km city driving with 50% a/c.
About 30 minutes of idling (non-traffic)

16.5 litres of Shell diesel. Overall FE this time is about 17.87.

Just theorizing : if I still got the same old 14kmpl in city, then the highway run has returned 22.5 kmpl. Considering that some 20 km of this was 2nd gear stuff, and the idling that was done, the Ikon seems to be doing pretty good in terms of FE.

My update

I'll put up my own long term review thread shortly but until then, Condor, pardon me for using yours to update the experience with my car.

I tanked up with Shell as soon as I took delivery and last Saturday filled her again with Shell. Got a mileage of 18.4 kmpl in the city with moderate traffic with 95% A/C. I will tank up every week on Saturday because I don't think my car can go for 2 weeks without a fill and the Shell bunk is a good 7 km away, so cant waste time on weekdays.

For this fill, I ran 745 km on 40.5 liters.

Guys, I plan to run in the car as follows:
First 1000km - max of 2k RPM
1000 to 2500km - max of 2.5k RPM.
2500 - Oil change to a good synthetic? (need suggestions) oil
2500 - first service (~5000km) - max of 3k RPM
After that, get a powerbox , already found one on ebay.uk. Much cheaper than the ones you get here.

Please advice.

EDIT: I am at 1200km now.

That must have been quite close to the empty tank mark. Not advisable in my opinion.

I agree. Only about 5 liters of diesel would have remained at that stage.

@Proxima, you are definitely welcome !

IIRC, Ford recommends 5W30, so you need to stay above this rating.

Reg the rpm's, do remember to take her to 3k rpm for 30 seconds 'when driving', once a week. This is stated in the owners manual.

My Ikon's scheduled for 1st service next week. Have run just about 2.2k so far.

This may not be entirely correct. The Ikon's official fuel tank capacity is 45 liters. I am not sure if this is till the auto cut-off mark /level, or the neck of the fuel tank.

If it is till the auto cut-off level, then the tank will take atleast 2-3 liters more. May be 5.

In this specific case, will help to know how much did Proxima fill her up, to.
