I will be checking on it. But before that I need to address a few points:

1. I have a few places of rust that requires attention. Small ones, so I don't think it would be an issue
2. I have one peculiar issue I am trying to decipher. My coolant levels drop continuously. I always keep a can of coolant to top it from time to time. I have changed all the hoses recently and there is no leak.
When I enquired about this to the SA, he mentioned we need to check the engine head and gasket which could have aged and needs to be checked. The cylinder head discussion also popped in. I don't think it is related, but still good to check it out.
3. Plastics color has deteroirated. I have painted the external plastics, but the paint is peeling off, not sure how to get this addressed

Guess we cannot get over the old designs. I still find the old gen vehicles look good. Age could be a factor true.

You still have four months to go before the fitness DDay. It can be done one month in advance however and is effective from the day after when the fitness lapses. Discussing the points you've jotted down:-

1. Hopefully that can be taken care of as you say.

2. Coolant in such cases leaks from the engine block-head gasket - tappet cover, joint. You can notice the leak while on a drive when engine temperature is low. When the engine gets heated coolant leaked will evaporate. A morning drive is preferable hence to test. The head gasket if defective can be replaced.

3. For plastics, please use some good quality plasti-shine that is usually used to polish the dashboard and plastics in the interiors. Waxpol has a good range of products for autocare.

Re: My New Refreshed Scorpio LX

We have a 2009 Scorpio Mhawk VLX which will be going for fitness next month. It has aftermarket headlamps (brighter than the original ones) as it spends 90% of its life on highways. Will those headlamps cause issues in the fitness check ?
The SUV has done over 2Lakh KM till date which no mechanical issues. The only problem is a little rust on A pillar of the car which is visible when drivers side door is opened, will it need repair to pass the test ?

Keeping a car for 15 years is testament to the cars reliability and skills of the owner who knows how to take care of it (internal, external body, mechanicals etc).

A close friend of mine bought the 1st gen Scorpio used it for 10 years, sold it and bought the updated version. He will pick up the ScorpioN when the time comes. A true Scorpio fan, he says he'll never buy anything else. Only one color for him, black🖤
