re: VW Polo 1.6 MPI - Ownership Report EDIT: 1,30,000 km up!

Crossed the 12,000 km mark today.
The car has started showing signs of age and is in need for a complete service.
Here is a list of issues -
1) There are some minor squeaks and rattles here and there (blame the poor roads of Kolkata and not VW).
2) The coolant level has gone down and is nearly at the "Min" mark.
3) The front tyres are visibly more worn out (though uniform) than the rear, needs rotation.
4) The hand brake has become weak and is unable to hold the car in steep ramps.
5) Something is loose inside the right ORVM, causing a rattling sound when opened or closed.
6) Light noise from the front left suspension on bumpy roads.
7) Slight drop in acceleration - possibly clogged air filter.

But I will wait for 3K km more before we take her in for the 1st service.

Congrats on the buy! great review!

12K in 6< months! your average use of car falls right into the 'buy diesel' territory

looking forward to the report on the A.S.S of VW

Yeah. Only if VW launched the Polo 1.6 diesel.
However overheard someone saying that the govt is mulling the idea of bringing the diesel prices up by reducing the subsidy, for non agricultural usage. Possibly through some sort of rationing.

This 1.6 Polo Petrol needs a brake up grade;
How & Where is that possible ?

The Suspension too needs to be up graded.
What is the exact model I should look for ?

I was keen to get KW - Suspension from Germany.

Get a general check-up done. Better to get all fluids level checked and air filter cleaned. Scheduled service can be carried out at 15k kms.

Nice looking alloys there! I like the grey finish. How much did you get them for and have you sold the OEM alloys?

The VW 15" Alloy is for sale with 205.55.15 Yokohama S Drive - driven 200 kms @ Rs. 41/- K - the ad is in the classified.

The Alloy + Tyre came from US - Tire Rack.
4 S Auto in Tardeo got them in for me. 7 day delivery.
Rs. 130/- K for a set of 4 - Alloy + Tyre.

Thanks for the compliment.

re: VW Polo 1.6 MPI - Ownership Report EDIT: 1,30,000 km up!

Hey Bhagwan,

First the incredible ICE, then alloys and now seats. Man you are unstoppable but I must say for whatever it is worth you have got excellent taste. The alloys are killers.

I am now kicking myself for not taking you up on the sandwiches the day before, I am sure they would have been yum

Let me put in a request to try out the seats when they are good and ready. They are tempting and maybe I will take the leap too.

EDIT

Just saw your post on the tire specs DW vs DWS. AFAIK the DWS are meant for regions which see a lot of sleet and snow on the roads and the tread pattern confirms it. Not suitable for our weather/driving conditions at all.

Yes Sir,

The DWS is not for us; Snow.
Hence the Extreme DW is what I got.

Your car is turning out good too.

The Mazda paint job is 'killer'
How I wish I could afford that.
Your 'A' Pillars got painted & they look super.
Mine went to a 'chalu' painter [Ashok] & it shows...

My ICE Enclosures are ready - I think & they will go to paint today.
Should have them back by Monday - I hope.

The Car should be ready by Wednesday - so I hope. Time will tell.

p.s. Yes, the seats are 'custom' made to my size. You are welcome to try, but not sure if you may like it..
That too should come by Wednesday. Else the car cannot be driven / moved.

So not just taste, the man has a sense of humour too.
You are turning out to be a killer yourself

That estate has two of the best in their respective lines of art, makes it easier for patrons like us. I am picking up my car later today, hopefully will see you there. Will try out your seats on my next drive to Bombay but will be eagerly scanning these pages for the final turnout.

Truly Sir, Mazda is the Best !
However, he is just way way too expensive for me.
Worth it if the car is a Merc or a BMW not for a VW - MHO !

Yes, I will be @ 4S this evening @ 1700 hours. Need to check on my K & N Air Flow 'remake' & also the ICE.

Will chat more in person.
