I had got all the tar brushes placement checked at the Mahindra official service center, And they agreed that all of them are well placed and doesn't affect any part of the engine bay in any harmful way. They also said they receive atleast 2-3 car's every week with rat issues and they will gladly pass this idea to those owner's as well.

Thanks Tanveer. Where do you get it? You mentioned local mechanic.

Yes a local mechanic did it for me, But you can get it done from anyone, All you require is the tar brush and the plastic strap to secure it which would be easily available at any good hardware shop, The mechanic just has to fix them. It can also be a DIY but since the tar brush is risky to handle, You should just let any mechanic handle it.

Your solution is truly ingenious. This has tremendous business potential (maybe for your mechanic.)

Hah, yeah seriously, I have told a lot of people about it, I think its also the time to "EDIT" this thread with this solution, So that people who view this thread can instantly see the best solution for it, Since its hard for everyone to go through every page.

Re: Rat-proof Fencing as a solution for the rodent menace?

I think not everyone here has the same type of rat attack.

In my case, I have seen a few muskrats making noise in the dark (and once spotted a small one a few meters away from the car).

I have a strong belief that it is the muskrat which is getting inside the car's bonnet in my case.

The muskrat is unaffected by tobacco, phenol, napthelene balls or even cats/ dogs.

We have around 5 cats which keep roaming around. Plus there are a dozen dogs. They all live happily in each other's company. The muskrat also does not fall for any of the rat glue products.

Edit: Another thread on the same topic here.

Came across this ad in the TOI yday. Posting here for people who are troubled with rat infestations in their cars. Costs around 4K on Amazon website

Please don't waste money on it, I have tried 3 different such type of so called "Ultrasonic devices".

Also if you contact them again saying the device doesn't work, They will very casually say, "Saar you must be having some different type of rats in your building".

I am thrilled to see it is compatible with all cars. But is it compatible with all rats?

Re: Rat-proof Fencing as a solution for the rodent menace?

The only solution worked for me is feeding two stray cats who now live in my garage. One on the roof top and one on the bottom of the car. So far close to 19 kills of rats and 3 badicoots. Not a bad rat protection and still humane way of natural life cycle

After doing some reading online, I'm convinced. Thanks for sharing . Amazon reviews are mostly positive, and the fact that it's backed by Honda gives me confidence.

Have called for 2. Will tape my car up and update with results.

Thanks again - greatly appreciated.

Got it! Will get it fixed whenever any of the cars go in for their next service and update on the effectiveness.
