Re: Pics of weird & wacky mod jobs in India!

This is my brother's 1995 Type 1 Maruti 800 he is rebuilding. That is an original AMG badge and it also has an original Peugeot GTline badges on the fenders.. I requested him to remove both but he is not ready to.

Otherwise car is turning out to be very good. He successfully installed Santro front seats, Pajero rear head rests, ORVM with turn indicators, Peogeot 308 GT side skirt, Omni front wipers, and many more. Number plate mounting plate is from RR Phantom I think. Ignore the dust but the paint job is excellent.

Driving with such a number plate is taking things to a whole different level! What excuse is the owner going to tell the cops when they see this plate ?
The only EXCUSE could be " Chacha Vidhayak Hai Hamare" (My uncle is a statesman/politician)

Here is another picture and you can see another badge
I will take more pictures next time I visit the car. You can see a glimpse of Santro front seats and Pajero rear head rest in this picture.

Re: Pics of weird & wacky mod jobs in India!

No points for Guessing which car this originally was

SA tells me the bonnet has no latch, apparently the weight of all the putty in it holds it down ROFL.

The car was in the ASC for fabrication of a chassis member with the chassis number so that RC could be renewed. All the cutting and puttying has covered up the chassis no

It is a Tata Safari Diocr, isn't it?

That unlatched bonnet could prove to be catastrophic if the bonnet suddenly gets blown open at highway speeds! how on earth does the owner expect this car to pass the RC renewal test? aren't modifications illegal?

Also, the unlocked bonnet will make it a cakewalk for thieves to steal the battery or any other part from this car!

It's a 2001 Safari sir. Same body style as the DiCor but old engine.

To answer your questions,
Yes those modifications are illegal .

Bonnet won't get blown at high speeds as the car cannot reach high speeds

No one will steal the battery as the theives themselves know that anything in that car won't be of any use to them. It's rusted beyond repair.

The condition of the car is much worse than what the photo suggests

You can see portions of rust on the bonnet leading edge and the bottom of the doors!

Re: Pics of weird & wacky mod jobs in India!

Found this image floating over the internet. A Swift turned into a micropickup truck. Best of redneck engineering.

P.S. This isn't in India, but since the same car is produced here, I thought what the heck!

Spotted Hyundai-Jaguar 4x4 turbo edition i10 in a parking lot. The car rode on 14" alloys ,which looked good. The alloys have a quirk which eagle eyes may spot. The interior was also heavily accessorized with windshield partially blackened. Feast upon the pics.

If I may say so, the design looks good enough. If only the fit and finish were better, it would be perfect
