Totally Off Topic, wrt to the present discussion, but a relevant question none the less..WHY one earth can't a stock lancer be worked upon to get results such as the Baleno ?

My experiance on the lancer, after having gone the whole hog, is that It'd beat the crap out of normal lancers & can do a lot post the 3000 RPM band linear power band right upto 6500 RPM

Is this good or bad ? I gues it is relative. The game with my modded lancer is between 3 to 6500 RPM in that band she sings

Any inputs from the Gurus ????????

Cheers

I've heard of such Lancers, but unfortunately can't say I have one of them
The main power delivery in my car comes between 2500 and a bit below 5000 RPM. Beyond that, the car feels strained and redlining isn't something that is worth it.
From what I have been told, a properly modded Lancer would be competitive...

@razor

My offer still stands, swap your engine with mine, you will not be disappointed. We can discuss details by PM if you want to pursue this further.

I can say that among stock Lancer (worked on engines), mine is probably amongst the better ones.

I was keen to turbo it but Arush dissuaded me. (not a VFM proposition). I don't know why a Lancer TC'd cannot be a good option when most suzuki engines work well with a turbo setup

Ricky_63, you need to ask Sideways about that. Before going with the MIVEC I think he had tried out all that could be done with the 4G15 engine.

UPDATE

Evo 4 Bumper is being reinforced with a layer of fibre on the inside. Seems like things are finally moving

@ Vid

Thanks for the suggestion.

Among other things, its a 3 valve engine vs the Baleno's 4. Plus it loses out 100 cc of displacement.

I've seen and driven a turbo Lancer done by Leela, if I'm not mistaken. Very nice car, moved very well, but then compared to the stock Lancer, pretty much anything does.

I think there was one for sale in the Classifieds.

Hey

You are not a big Lancer fan are you ??? I think I understand what you are saying. The Lancer is the looker & the Baleno is the runner

Hey Ricky,

I know this might be a little late, but I'm pretty new to the TBHP Forum.

Your lancer looks awesome man. The attention to detail and the choice of components is fantastic. LOVE the angel eyes, and the understated yet menacing body kit.

Great job, man. Just great.

I believe the Lancer has, and this is by a wide wide margin, the best chassis and handling out of the trio -- Lancer, Baleno, OHC. Which is why when you turbo/Mivec/Evo a Lancer, you begin to realise its true potential. Unfortunately HM shortchanged us by giving us the 4G15, which can best be described as 'sedate'.

The OHC Vtec, again by a wide margin, has the sweetest engine of the lot. There is something special about Honda engines. The Baleno is somewhere in between -- great comfort, decent handling, decent engine. In city traffic, it is also the easiest of the three.

At last the work begins on the Lancer. The EVO 4 bumper is in the process of being made from a sample got from Malaysia.
