Hey, car looks neat. No offence, but racing stipes are a bit passe.

Neverthless I am a big fan ot it.

One suggestion, save money or do what ever, it would be awesome to add some width to the car. Put on some side skirts to give it a more planted look.

hey guys.. need help on something here. Planning to plant the following onto my ikon 1.6. The Car is undergoing some bodywork repairs so i intend to have them on in a week. My issue is that there seems to be a crazy difference in the quotes that I am getting here in Chennai and the ones i got from Bangalore. So just wondering if I should drive up to Bangalore and get he stuff done. Besides I guess the workmanship too is better there with regards to external and internal mods. The following are the quotes that I have got. Kindly advice.

1.Iridium plugs (750 each)
2.K&N filter (4500)
3.Complete FFE (11000)
4.GT spoiler (4000)
5.Skirts (5000)
6.Plati/ League wheels 14" (19200) for a set of 5
7.Yokohama 185 / 60 R14 (17500) for a set of 5
8.Momo wheel (3000 - 5000)

Besides would my old rims and my stock exhaust fetch anything (the exhaust pipe is only 5 months old). Guess you guys in Bangalore should be able to help me out with the quotes and where exactly would I find them. Chennaites please let me know if the above mentioned are available for anything less in Chennai. (PS - I have not done a recon of GP road as yet. Just a general enquiry) Help guys

Small Tech Issues to be sorted out

Hmmm. Has been quite a long time since i wrote something in this thread. My car has not changed much from the time i wrote my last post. The Ford Racing Stickers have peeled off now and some issues beneath the bonnet have creeped up.

1) Power Steering too tight these days. Had changed the PS pump a few days back.
2) Car was stuck in water (again) and have a feeling it has messed up on the electronics. The only visible prob i can see right now is that the temp gauge is acting quite abnormally. It indicates that the temp is maximum (yes maximum) well above the normal indicator even when in the engine is cool.
3) Biggest headache of all is a problem thats been running for almost 2 years now. And no mechanic in this city has managed to find a solution to that. The tachometer reading goes well below the normal reading of 850rpm when i apply brakes and clutch to lower gear from say 5th to 2nd when i approach a hump. Ideally it should settle at around 850rpm and should not go below that. But in my car, it goes even to 200rpm and the engine stalls. Can experts help me find the solution?

had similar problems, and at times it resurfaces, usually find it only during cold starts.

and if the porblem arrises on a hot engine, i usually find the low radiator fluid and removing and reconnecting the injector plugs on the common rail to fix the problem.

Thanks Hemant. I did not get it done from the A.S.S. I simply found an old one with a workshop, got it painted and replaced the old one. It cost me around 3k including the painting

For those who were looking at custom bumprs for the Ikon, here is an example from Kitup in Coimbatore. It actually looks good, the bumper, i mean and also gels with the body kit.

OE bumpers do not cost much. Also, get the painting done from outside .. will be cheaper.

@Benny, can you PS that image to get rid of that color combo/design ? Would looks much better than it is now.

But then this is no match for the stock bumper of the NXT / 1.6

The color scheme is horrible . Looks like a CNG taxi.

Well, if you are talking about the bumpers u can easily get any bumper from chor bazaar in Shivagi nagar. I bet even if they dont have one, they will get you one in a day. no prize for guessing how . its located right behind the bus stand. And yes they keep quality stuffs as I had been there long back searching for a silencer for my pulsar. Got it for 600Rs which had just one scratch on it. He said they have contacts with insurance people and get the goods from them.
Try your luck..
