- Any long term reviews on whether it affects the engine over time No, your car is detuned for less power, if you notice the 1.3JTD engine with the same hardware comes with a 90bhp configuration in cars like Grand Punto, this is a software which helps you attain the stock config of power found on same engine in diff cars.
- If this was so easy are the manufacturers deliberately underpowering their engines so that they could later put out the higher output motors in "upgrades" or in newer models? Well, Indians want to sell cars cheap, now imagine MUL sells the Swift with 165 tyres and 75 power, with the tunning box the power is 90bhp, will the 165 tyres be able to take the power?? Hence MUL will have to update the width of the tyres and then the rim size and hence the car will become pricer, which will lead to more taxes. Plus they are very few people who know power is nothing without control. Imagine a 215NM, 90bhp Swift in the hand of a Taxi driver?
- Also your Laura is 105bhp, the Magnum is 120bhp. People say the Laura is a step up the Octy, Magnum so should not it be more powerful? This is where Mr. Peter steps in.
OK - I just read the FAQs at Petes site but am still intrigued as to why if this is so easy, why are not more people using this. Is it being done in a big way abroad?
Here is one post where some at least advise AGAINST these tuning boxes tuning box yes or no???? - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forum and Community
and one more where users are happy Tuning Box on Octavia 2.0 TDi - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forum and Community
So whats the final low down on these? |
Well, You have a Laura right? I would say tunning boxes are the best power enhancing devices money can buy. And if you want you can increase the power of your Laura by going in for a remap. Yes, Skoda diesels can be remapped for more power and it takes power upto 140bhp Quote:

Well buddy, same here Tures & Alloys & ICE all do make affect the pocket, but in all my mods ICE(JBL Compos on all four doors & Pioneer 7950UB), Tires (Michelin Energy XM1), Alloys(15inch Lenso Maglite Hyperblack) I must say the Petes tunning box is the best investment, heck nowadays i dont find myself turning the ICE on, since too floored with the wave of torque this box offers. Yes thats the best part of the box, you can just plug and play. Quote:
Wind filter as I understand from the posting is for Peted Swift with power in the vicinity of 100 BHP. Is there a filter for swift D without tuning box fitted? or can we use Wind filter in Stock Swift D?
In addition to my above question I was wondering if there is a higher risk of is WIND failure leading to breakdown of the car compared to Normal Air filter
|
Yes you can go for a Green Filter without the Petes box, but for best results you should go with the Petes Box. There is no risk of Wind filter failing and it runs much more then the stock filter so you save on the air filter charges everytime you service your car.
Coming in the Future
Green Cotton Filter
Free Flow Exhaust minus Cat Con and box on stage 2 and boy that would be power in the range of 100bhp |
