vid, Does your black & decker do a good job with all the finer cleaning?

I mean good suction power to grab dust from seats, sand from carpets, etc?

No point going for a car vacuum cleaner---it sucks big time! It hardly has any suction, and you can generate better suction by bending down towards the floor and breathing in hard with your mouth .

I donated mine to my BIL, and in the process both of us are happy.

I already have one.
Bought a crappy peice from indiaplaza for 300/-. It burned down in 1 minute. They replaced it with another worth 400/-.

I use a carpet brush and cloth to remove as much as I can.
Then I pound the carpet to loosen the fine dust.
What I have left is sucked up by the vc.
It does this quite well.

But my query is should I keep the car on when I use the vc.
Am confused because I think only a moving car charges the battery.

Not all 12V car vacs are bad , I purchased one from Korea for peanuts and my father is using it for last 5 years in his Corsa , It came with a lots of nozzels to reach every nook and cranny and picks up almost everything.

I am looking for similar kind once more but those available on e-bay with a single nozel looks bad in quality.

suggest you check out the ones available in SPAR supermarket since you are in Bangalore. They looked quite nice but when I went, they had only 2 pieces in stock so I couldnt buy, because both were being used as Demo pieces.
I need to pick one up too!

aha! same trouble. they had an electrically operated air compressor pump but somehow I wasnt convinced on the quality.

I last went there about a month back on a Sunday afternoon but the last 2 vacs were not buy-able.

I find it irritating to go there because the approach is painful (going all the way to Eejipura and U turning there etc) and parking upstairs is a pain - its nice when they allow you to park on the ground floor.

Better to leave the vehicle in one of those side lanes and walk to Spar - much more efficient I think! But the weight of the groceries one has to lift and lug back will give one a hernia probably.

Yeah I understand that most of the 12V car vacu are useless with minimal power, but I hope i can use a brush to loosen up dust from carpet and then these would be useful to suck it out. Removing dust and some large particles by dragging them out with the help of a cloth might scratch the door sil.

Any good brand suggestions for those 12V vacs?
