No offense but I had a Stebel horn for more than a year with no problems (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1289745-post643.html). The sound was not loud since it was installed deep inside the engine bay.
Thats because it was kept in engine bay,Lucky You.Some how i felt that it was not loud and sharp so nobody actually move out of your way, where as every day i get a stare from someone on the road bec of hella:-)).

Ask you TASS to fit it for you. They quote higher rate for fixing but they will fit it proper,at the right place so you get max sound and warranty remains valid.

I was charged 800Rs for fitting Bosch. This included the clamps if it was used.Would suggest that you get the small Bosch relay instead of local ones.[/quote]

Thanks JKDas your recommendation is just in time as I am visiting the dealer's wksp on monday

Bangalore Police is having a drive against Power Horns above 80 dec, they have caught more than 3500 vehicles mostly Private bus and cabs(with Shrill horns) in a week. Just be careful guys if you are using Air Horn.

I checked with a dealer in Gurgaon, and he is selling me Roots Megasonic at INR 2k.

http://www.rootsindia.com/html/megasonic.html

Is this the right price ?

Is this a good Horn ? I mean loud ? What type of sound does it gives ?

I dont want him to open the hood before I can agree to the horn itself.

It is Quite Loud, and has a Peculiar tone, cant explain it in words
and Horns are quite Large and Heavy.
Also they cost around 1300-1400 bucks.

Which vehicle are you planning to use them on?
They are more suited to SUV's,owing to their huge size.

Planning for my Santro Xing.

Yeah, they are large and heavy.

The price quoted by dealer is high then in that case.

I checked on youtube, the sound didnt appeal to me. Looks like Amby

Sorry for updating late but a month or two ago, I changed the horns in my Zen to the mighty Red Grills and man, they are sooo loud!
I love these horns!
It even goes well with the "character" of the 2000 Zen. I recommend it!
Further queries?
Please do post.

As per popular choice I guess it should be the (in)famous Red Grill, Quite loud and shrill. Just try demos to see if the tone is to your liking.

Appreciate your thoughts, What is your opinion regarding the "hella compressed air horn", costing more than hella red so assuming much more effectiveness.

In Chennai, stock horns on the car is off no use & no one gives way for it. A very disturbing trend is the bikes & share autos using heavy horns to give way.

I mustn't brag but yes, my red grills are currently experiencing harsh monsoons but there isn't even a hint of any kind performance drop/damage. Today, we had deeply waterlogged roads here while it was raining full-on and I was driving my car through it, the red grills are still sounding as good as new. Just ensure you buy the genuine hella red grill as they are very much imitated. I could bank upon my installer so I bought them. I say, WORTH IT (for me)!

Hi all,

I am looking for a replacement to my car's (Alto LX) stock horn (single) which died today. The stock horn wasn't great & hence I had installed a pair of Hella TwinTone horns as a secondary product. I am now looking for something which is available as a single piece & is capable of producing loud sounds & is also light in weight. As for the budget, the cheaper the better, although no compromises on quality & durability as this horn would be for regular use. I am not aware of any companies apart from Bosch, Hella & Roots, & would prefer to stick to these only unless some other good options are available.

Kindly guide on the products based on your experiences.

Thanks in advance, drive safe.
