From servicing and daily commuting perspective, I think it is totally "Tension Free".

The only problems I foresee is "parking" in your daily rides outside Spar or maybe a common parking spot on a street. This bike will face the same problem that R15 did in its early days, it grabs a lot of attention and hence a lot of chances of people trying to sit on the bike, move the gears, pull the clutch wires, or like in my place - draw scratch art on your tank.

So till it becomes a common face like the R15 is now, you might need to choose your parking spots correctly.

This is the sole reason I still dont take the bike out for daily errands and use it only when I can keep her parked in front of my eyes.

Infractions: 0/1 (5)

Got a call from planet Honda , I was excited that my bike is ready just a month. Ashada (month in hindu calendar) helped me get my bike real quick, many have said they would pay for it after 1st aug.
Did a quick PDI looks fine. Attached few snaps of it.
Best part was planet Honda could deliver ABS version with in a month.
Sales lady was decent enough and patience to show my bike.

Overall Planet Honda was a better place in terms of sales and honestly she was referring basaweshwara nagar service staion to be preferred rather than pointing themselves as best.

1. does this bike qualify as a no tension bike. (I would use it for my daily commuting, weekend ride , getting shopping done from Spar/ hypermarkets). What i meant, does it demand more than regular servicing?

I have been using my Gladiator for close to 6 yrs and I never had any big hassle (touchwood) apart from regular services/ unforeseen puncture issues which no body can avoid. so is it a no head ache bike for normal riders like me ?
It is like any other bike, if you service it on time it IS SUPPOSED to serve you well. As these are machines which can fail there is nothing called a no tension bike. You take any premium bike (R15, ZMA, Ninja etc) and you would find very few owners who faced major issues with the bike. The chance of failures is a little high when a bike is just launched, a honda dealer also told me recently that the initial issues happen until the manufacturing process for the new model gets streamlined. As CBR has been in the market for sometime, it should be fine by now.

It needs more care compared to a regular commuter with respect to usage and parking. My alloy wheel bent when I hit a pothole at 80kmph. The chance of the vehicle getting easily scratched or damaged by others is very high if you plan to use it as a daily commuter and park it in busy areas for a long time. It also does not make sense if you are going to use the bike in very high traffic conditions (bangalore bumper to bumper traffic) most of the time. In that case, it's better to have a commuter bike for city and CBR for highway. You can extract the potential/ make proper use of CBR only on vacant roads.

I have used the bike for 650 kilometers and it has been hassle free until now. I find the vehicle definitely value for money. The engine is opening up and is getting smooth. It reaches 100kph fast and can cruise at that limit effortlessly. I am comfortable with the riding position. I cannot wait to complete the first service next week. I am in love with the bike.

I would recommend you to prioritize your requirements (no bike will be able to meet all of them perfectly) and then take test ride of the bikes. All The Best.

Congrats Mohan, finally your wish is fulfilled.
They are referring to Basaweshwaranagar ASC, because that's where they have their lonely trained Mech. His name is Kumar. I am sure the Sales Lady you are mentioning is Ms.Gagan.
When did you check your bike, i visited them yesterday morning.

@e46,
I would 100% agree with the suggestions mentioned by other owners.

I found rust at exactly the same place with the same magnitude. I will get it fixed when I give the bike for first service next week.

Yeah, expected. There is one more bike from Bangalore CBR owners group also has the same rusting.
Get it fixed, ensure he rubs first with the sandpaper before painting.

this is poor quality job by Honda but we have to live with it. As far it is such small issues, it should be fine(Fingers crossed).

Ilayaraja's bike also has some rust. I think it is a common feature of CBR.

I do not care as long as the bike runs fine, no problem until now. Fingers crossed.

Update - Odo reading 2110 kms

Completed 2000 kms yesterday with a ride to Devarayana Durga Hills with some fellow riders.
I was feeling the rear shocks were little stiff, so changed it to super soft last week and rode it for couple of days. The ride was good, but stability of the bike on the road was compromised. So got it back to setting 2(Default setting).
Some pics from the ride of yesterday.

Re: New addition to my garage, the new CBR250r

awesome fellas! B'lore rocks whjen it comes to G2Gs.
I am waiting (rather patiently) for the new R15 but the callous attitiude of YMIL is irking me. I am slowly swerving towards the CBR. few inputs needed guys.

Whats the current post booking waiting period for the non ABS version in b'lore? Can i expect to get in a months time?

Also, which dealer would be better among all. I heard not so good/ arrogant attitude from Sapphire (JPNgr/ Jayngr), and dont want to approach them (although its closest to my place)

Had toured a lot with fellow xBhp riders, but had to put a pause for lot of other commitments. Days have passed and I could realise i have missed a lot of actions. Hope to join you guys soon.

Abhishek

Abhishek,
Doubtful of the bike coming in by this month or in near future, might be around for the Pre Diwali Season.

Update - Odo reading 3240 kms

I had decided to change oil after 3000 kms, today got a chance to change the oil and also the odo reading was 3240 Kms.
After the oil change, the engine is smooth. Probably will know better about the performance once i do a long ride during the weekend.
Will keep posted.

I had 500 ml of oil left over from 1st service, so bought only 1 ltr for the oil change and total costed Rs.561 for oil change.

Did you change it by your self, through a local mechanic or at the A.S.S centre ?

Did you change the Oil Filter as well ?
