Not just the noise. Bike has run 11000 kms now and I feel the brakes are getting a little spongy. Yes, remember your post about Galfer. But looks like they are sold out on every site I seem to search on.

I had some noise emanating from the RHS of the engine. Minor adjustment was required on the timing chain tensioner which eliminated the noise.

The sound seems to have disappeared - for now. Need to keep a look out for it though.

Sponginess on ABS? Hmm...I can think of only one reason - Improper pad fitment; pls don't tell ASC doesn't do that, I met with an accident just because they didn't do it properly. As if these weren't enough, they said pads are fine after multiple checks & I'd to ride for nearly 10K km with those crappy brakes.

Finally one day, I'd accidentally jammed up the brakes while switching to DOT4 from DOT3 & had to undergo a great ordeal to get it fixed. It was during this process I learned how ASC did a crappy work.

I'm not saying this is the issue in your case, but, giving you a possibility. Just open up the caliper kit, free up all 3 pistons, clean the pad & fit it back. I'm very sure your braking WILL IMPROVE.

Just for the records, I still have the brake pads the bike came out of the showroom with, at 138xx kms on the ODO. Ohh, and its been two monsoons.

Let me get the timing chain tensioner checked per your suggestion by this month end.

The wheezing sound I was telling you the other day was also attributed to the timing chain tensioner. Will post a video soon. Haven't been getting time as my attention now gets shared by another Honda, of the 4-wheeled kind. :)

Ask me about crappy ASC work. My bike runs on DOT3.5 now, thanks to ASC. Anyone wants a feel of spongy brakes, you should put my bike's brakes as your reference.

Awesome; I changed mine at 228xx something (around May end before the GQ trip) & it's almost due to change...it will be 39K by next week ;) Beat that!!! But I'm not sure if I can withstand for an year or so

Please don't mix 3 & 4, it's of no use. Use DOT4 only & believe me it gives really amazing braking & you can really experience the bite

I'm on it! Even if I have to ride with just engine braking, like they teach in those track schools. stupid:

This was the result of improper bleeding at the ASC saar. :Frustrati
I reckon I'll have to bleed the rear brake myself. The front one anyway will be changed with the master cylinder kit replacement.

Ahead of my Coast to Coast ride - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ing-et-al.html , I gave the bike for a service at Raja Honda, Koramangala. The service manager there - Mr.ShyamSundar at once said that he was hearing a different tone to the engine. He said it might be the camshaft and that he would check it.

He called me back today and said that the there was some wear in the "cam inline shaft". I wasn't too sure if he used the right term and went to the ASC to check. He was very courteous and showed me the part. I could also see the uneven wear at the shaft. When asked why this could have happened, he first said that it must be because I would have revved the engine hard before breaking it in. I denied doing this (and I know I haven't) to which he said it might be a off issue with the particular cam, materials what not. However, he said he will get it replaced under warranty (though it has been more than a year since I bought the bike).

Any of you guys come across this issue? As far as I could tell - this is the part and where the wear was seen. Picture is taken from http://cbr250.com/forum/thread-270.html

Pic is not clear, but I hope it looks like the cam lobe to me; have you EVER, ever used 20W40 mineral oil? If so, then there's a good amount of chance this wear & tear could've happened.

OT - Naveen regarding your query on coast to coast trip, the one & only place that you need to visit is under my signature - https://www.facebook.com/groups/hvkumar/

Has anyone on the forum completed their first paid servicing yet ?

Honda ASC (Om Sai Honda) is charging a flat 1000 bucks service charge from the first paid service + consumables + labour for the CBR250 - just wanted to check if its the same at all ASC's or is this one trying to make a quick buck on the premium bike ?

Well, it goes like this...

Engine oil, Engine oil filter - charged mandatory; consumables...pls ask as what did they do. Typically they might say lubing the chain or used grease at some parts which we'll be unable to verify.

Labor is 100% FREE; show them the back side of the free service coupon. Labor CANNOT be charged on you & free service means, free of cost on labor but not on consumables & spares.

Engine oil costs about Rs 550 per litre & filter should be around Rs 250 making a total of Rs 1075...atleast

It was a paid service not free. But because of this wierd 1000 bucks service charge, I did not even change my oil there.

Which brings me to my next question - Since my last oil change in June I have ridden only 500 kms (was out of country), do I still need to change my oil now in December ?

If yes, can you suggest which oil can I purchase and add at my local corner bike shop ?

From my poor memory, I don't remember how much I've paid for my first service :( But agree with you, certainly not Rs 1000 for labor.

Hell...I even changed my sprocket kit for which the labor costed peanut (the actual job takes about an hour...IF done dedicated)

Better YES; If I were you, I would crank up the engine with new engine oil only after draining over the night of the cold engine oil.

Stick to 10W30 HMSI engine oil; it's best VFM & keeps your bike under warranty for 32000 Km or 2 years.

I've just completed a 1800 km Coast to Coast ride. Back in one piece. Good ride. But I wanted the brake pads changed. I'd ordered Galfer pads for both rear and front and received it in my hometown - thinking I can change it there on my ride. But the CBR mech was on leave and I couldn't. Have brought them along but a little apprehensive about getting it changed at a local shop. Will the Honda ASC do it for me? (warranty etc) or can I get it changed at any local mech. Bike is ABS.

Naveen, don't. If you know a very competent mechanic outside, then its okay. Else, being ABS equipped, wait till the specialist mechanic arrives.

And a log about the ride?
