re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

Confirmed: BMW G 310 R will not come to India this year

Overdrive Source

Quote:
The BMW G 310 R will not go on sale in 2016, the company has confirmed exclusively to OVERDRIVE.

Now we believe the BMW G 310 R will be launched in January or February 2017.

The delay in the Indian launch of the G 310 R is most likely due to supply constraints. We believe BMW will definitely include Germany and a handful of European markets in the initial markets list, and we also believe the initial production batches may not be able to satisfy these markets as well as India.

BMW Motorrad India, as per the 2013 announcement, was always expected to create its own dealer network to sell the G 310 R in India. Given the heavily urban-flavour of the entry-premium segment, we were expecting BMW to announce a starting network of 3-4 dealers in the big cities. The delay in the G 310 R might allow BMW to have more dealers in place when the motorcycle goes on sale. Expect BMW Motorrad India to have as many as 12 dealers open before 2017 is over.

This is some really sad news. Was eagerly waiting for this bike to be launched. Seemed like the best deal between waiting for the new Dukes and the rumored 750cc RE. Dilemma grows.

TVS-BMW G 310 R to sport Michelins in India

Source

Quote:
Global tyre major Michelin has indicated that it would strengthen its focus in the rapidly growing two-wheeler segment in India. To that effect, it is strengthening its negotiations with automakers to co-develop tyres and the latest upshot of such a partnership will be the G 310 R, a single- cylinder street bike jointly produced by BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Co, which will come fitted with Michelin tyres right from launch. The upcoming motorcycle has already been spied donning Michelins earlier this year.
Good to know that BMW hasn't ruled out Indian market. I am keeping my fingers crossed to see this beauty on roads ASAP

re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

A few observations:

1> Beautiful - It looks like a Duke in every angle, I can't call that beautiful and I own one

2> Power - BMW bikes unlike their cars are very understated in power. Ask anyone who has ridden a Tiger or a KTM Adventure and then a R1200

3> Handling - I expect a refined tourer and commuter which will be placed right in the middle of a Duke 200 and a Duke 390. And they will appeal to the volume market and a bit of Badge marketing

4> Pricing - should be close to the Mojo (which is overpriced) and a D390, else it will not make any sense

5> It will be an upgrade for the Gixxer/D200/R15 riders, the CBR/D390/N300 will not really be bothered

6> Servicing - If it can't be done through the TVS network, then it won't work as a tourer and we will have a pretty expensive commuter/weekend ride/egg-milk bike on our hands

re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

Can we assume that the price of the BMW G310R would be close to the Himalayan, when launched, from the export prices? Just comparing the other bikes it could compete from price point.

Thats an awesome share So as per this, looks like the rumor is true that BMW is going price it aggressively 20k less than KTM Duke 390

There have been mixed news lately. Earlier one news came that the launch will be next year. Now we are hearing that launch may actually happen in October 2016. Only BMW and TVS know about the launch date. Is there any insider birdie???

Also, if the launch is in October, then the BMW Motorrad showrooms must be getting ready. I am from Bangalore, waiting anxiously for this bike. Specially now when Pulsar CS/VS 400 launch is near the corner

Come on BMW, please launch it as soon as possible. The bike always looks smashing in the black. Can't wait to get my hands on this beauty.

An article on Autocar now states the bike may be launched in India by October.

"The G 310 R has been seen on test at various occasions in India and the latest set of spy pictures reveal that the bike is almost ready to hit showrooms, with the launch set for October."

And first ride impressions.

BMW and TVS have joined forces to produce a motorcycle that's self-evidently a BMW, but made in India largely to the standards of its Berlin factory. While appropriately priced in Europe—US prices have not been announced—it totally conforms to BMW's brand identity in terms of performance, manufacturing quality, and styling.
